Fox Sports reports: ...Brazilian midfielder Emerson, Dutch midfielder Clarence Seedorf, Georgian defender Kakha Kaladze and Czech defender Marek Jankulovski are being offered to Galaxy. Money appears to be the least of the problems, with L.A. basically requesting a star trade in order to give up their marquee player, most likely in the form of Brazilian star Ronaldinho. But the former FIFA World Player of the Year made it clear that he did not want to be a part of the deal as any move to MLS would certainly signify a threat to his national team career. source: http://msn.foxsports.com/story/9213128 Should this turned out to be true....i would most probably picked Seedorf....the guy plays with class...2nd option Jankulovski...very very solid defence with a nice touch on free kicks...
How about all of them and some money too. We get cash, and we get to kick some ass then. The article even states it could be more than one... Thanks, I want you to stay there too. He loves us sooo much. I feel the love Beckham. Thanks.
Although the article talks about a possibility of bringing in multiple players with this deal, does the Galaxy have the cap space for their salaries? They're are all DP's pretty much, and LA only has one DP slot. Also, is it a player+money? Or just 1/2 players? If it's a player+money, I can see that the Galaxy frees up their DP slot and gets a big deal of allocation money. With their DP slot and allocation money they could probably sign 2 big contracts...but if their is no money involved, then again I ask, where's the cap space?
Wouldnt we have more DP slots if Donovan signs with Bayern? and If not ship his a$$. He also doesnt want to be here either.
if they let L.Donovan go (=1 DP, although "grandfathered") with Beckham as well (second DP), with pile of allocation and transfer money freed up, they could theoretically pull it off. I'm sure the league would be accomodating should any big names players decided to get involved with the MLS.
Brazilian midfielder Emerson Dutch midfielder Clarence Seedorf Georgian defender Kakha Kaladze Czech defender Marek Jankulovski Sounds good to me. So let me see here if it works... ------------ Buddle ---- Donovan ------- - Seedorf ------------------------ Klein - -------- Kovalenko ----- Emerson ------- Dunivant - Jankulovski - Kaladze - Franklin ----------------- Ricketts -------------- Make it so Bruce!
With Donovan's contract being "grandfathered in", doesn't that mean, that when his contract is up, that's the end of that type of contract? If he stays in LA, and has to re-sign his contract(at the end of next season I believe), he woulnd't be allowed to extend it would he? At that given time, wouldn't he have to sign an official DP contract for that kinf of cash(900k/year)?
a team can have up to 2 DP officially. The rule was designed back in 2007 to be 'revised by league at end of 2009"..in other words anything's possible...one could also trade or purchase DP slot from another MLS team.... for more info check: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Designated_Player_Rule
exactly, we would have to trade to get the second DP slot.... That way we can get 2 players of the list. I say we trade Dema, Kirovski, and Randolph to the Rapids with some allocation to get Seedorf and Kaladse.
Umm... is the swap Bex for ALL those players, or one? God forbid I read anything related to this because the whole thing is such a crock of suck. And here's an amusing question: Are those guys willing to come? And play? And give it their all? After Beckham and every other person in the global media has dissed the team and the league? Sounds like a great recipe for another poop-du-jour, were I to be asked. Seedorf is pretty much a footballing god in my eyes, and not just because he's the only player to win the Champions League with three different teams but because he is as complete a player as has ever played the game. His form over the last few seasons at AC Milan has been incredible, especially after moving from such big clubs. That said he can frequently be a massive, massive head case (just ask Marco van Basten) and I cannot imagine him coming close to his current form in a Los Angeles shirt. Call it a hunch. (I also think letting Seedorf go in order to keep Beckham is lunacy. Beckham's been brilliant but Seedorf is the glue in the midfield if you ask me, allowing Kaka and Pato to score.)
Crimen, please... let us dream. I mean, doesnt my proposed line up kick some butt? Secondly, you are right. Seedorf is a god winning the Champions League x3. Now he can help us with the PPC!
With Donovan coming off the bench at Bayern and with Becks likely gone, I'm having at least a little hope LD will come back.. up from 0% a month ago. Seedorf (we would only get one player from Milan) and a little cash ($5M?) for his contract and it's a deal for Becks.. ------------ Buddle ---- Donovan ------- ----------------- Seedorf --------------- --- Lewis ---------------------- Klein --- ---------------- Kovalenko -------------- Dunivant - Randolph - Bautista? - Franklin ----------------- Ricketts --------------
Oh, good thing I put the question mark.. doesn't matter.. put Gonzalez, Roberts or Valentin in there and that Seedorf/Donovan team is much better than where we were months ago, imo.. If you don't want to start Gonzalez, Roberts or Valentin.. you can start Bmac or Magee in the mid-field and drop Lewis or Klein back..
Do you think Seedorf would be open to a move to MLS if the following quote is accurate?: Speaking ahead of Wednesday's game, Seedorf also praised his fellow midfielder for adjusting so quickly to life in Serie A with Milan. "He is training well and playing well and has done a good job in adapting himself to the work of our team," he added. "Of course when you play with leading players who know how to play it is much easier and I can imagine his frustration playing over the last year in the Major Soccer League." http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/internationals/7884876.stm Like I say if he said it doesnt sound like he would be too enamoured with a move in the other direction to keep Beckham at Milan and the BBC are pretty reliable i would say.
I can't stop laughing at the thought of Kovalenko and Emerson on the same line. Probably the first time they've ever been mentioned in the same sentence.
Bruce Arena would suit up and play CB before letting mike randolph do it. The guy is like 5-5 and has completed one or two tackles in his career. He's a left winger or wing back.
I could be wrong on this, but I think that story is absolute rubbish. It says that the sum of money being offered is rumored to be $50-100 million. Really? I'm fairly certain that the Galaxy would include Donovan in the deal as well if Milan offered $50 million. IMO, it's one writer's attempt to cash in on being the first with "exclusive" news on Becks' Deadline Day. Regarding a potential player swap... if that scenario were really being discussed, the obvious choice to come to the Galaxy would be Shevchenko. Milan has no use for him and he's still a name, which seems to be what AEG/Leiweke cares about the most. I for one would like to see him in MLS sooner than later and he has said it's a move he would like to make, unlike all those other names being floated in this "story".
The Ronaldinho to LA Galaxy fiction is nearly as laughable as the Thierry Henry to Galaxy rumours lol. I know you got Beckham which is absolutely amazing when you think about it. But come on.... just because you got one top class player from Europe, doesn't mean you're Real Madrid all of a sudden and all the big names are desperate to leave their giant european clubs to come and join you!
Cmon man don't pull them out of their fantasyland, let them stay there a little longer till reality hits.
