After losing the rights to the Premier League to NBC, Fox is rebranding Fox Soccer Channel as FXX, a sister channel to FX. http://www.deadline.com/2013/01/fox...-fx-sister-channel-targeting-younger-viewers/
On the one hand, I'd say this news belongs in TV & Media; on the other hand this is a sign of how the sport is becoming more mainstream in the USA--at least that's how I see it. Thoughts?
Oh no. FSC's "All England, all the time" philosophy turned me off. I rarely watch the channel nowadays.
I still watch it out of habit, but I'd say that the fact that a niche channel for soccer is being phased out because non-niche networks have bid more money for soccer broadcast rights is a sign that things have changed. On the other hand--BeIN sports, GolTV, etc. So I don't know.
i wonder what will happen to FOX Soccer Plus. I get the channel but its times its really atrocious. They show Scottish Premier League games but not in HD. And this is a channel you have to pay extra for. This is inexcusable IMO.
