I haven't been able to find any article online, but a brazilian friend of mine mentioned that the lack of coverage this year by Fox has to do with number of production and field team that was lost on Bolivian Lamia flight last year....not sure the validity of this. Can anyone confirm?
That is completely inaccurate. I believe most of the non-players in that flight were either the coaching staff, their family members, some members of the Brazilian press, and possibly a member of FOX Deportes. The reason FOX didn't really have any coverage of the Copa Libertadores is because Conmebol and Fox couldn't agree on a deal to televise it; rumor has it that Fox wanted to pay less because Mexico would not be represented in the tournament. Whatever it was, an agreement was reached and they are now televising the matches.
Fox Soccer Match Pass (formerly known as Fox Soccer 2 Go) has the Copa Libertadores: https://t.co/FFWpYGIRUR— Jonathan Tannenwald (@thegoalkeeper) July 6, 2017
What I find annoying is that for those matches that are not televised live are shown on the Match Pass but with no Commentators, Scoreboard, and clock. It's the direct feed I guess.
Sometimes no commentators, sometimes in English (very amateur), sometimes spanish, always no graphics. They claim capability for 3 simultaneous streams, Yesterday I could only do two, the third gave me an error, not working or unavailable in my region. Maybe it will improve with time, I'm just happy to be able to watch what I want and not what Fox Deportes decides to schedule.
Fox Deportes has been good about showing all the games this week - even the match that is played simultaneously is showing up on delay, for example tonight's Nacional-Botafogo is being shown Saturday afternoon at 1 ET, and they're also showing Copa Sudamericana matches running concurrently with Libertadores the next afternoon at 1 as well.
