Watching on FSWEspanhol the Libertadores match between Paysandu (Brasil) and Catolica (Chile) and these jerks are TOTALLY rooting for the Chilean team. Worse is that they act as if they are actually calling the game as a Chilean station, I mean when Paysandu scored they barely yelled goal and the whole match they talked crap about Paysandu being a bad team (umm 2 weins , 1 tie so far).

Sure Brasil is practically the only non-Spanish speaking country in South America but gimme a freaking break.

Didn't watch that particular game, but in most of the games in which a Chilean team plays the Fox commentators are Chileans... so there you have a reason for this.

No they're not. FS Espanol has two sets of regular staffs. One is completely Argentine, they live in Argentina and they actually work for Torneos y Competencias, the production company that owns Futbol de Primera, the Argie league highlights show. They also have cable channels in Argentina. Fox and TyC must have some sort of deal.

They're the ones that call most of the Libertadores games and they travel to some of the several Libertadores venues. Once there, sometimes they use local people as sideline reporters. I've seen that in Chile, Peru, Bolivia and Paraguay.

The Paysandu-Catolica game was called directly from their Buenos Aires studio, and if they were rooting for the Chileans that was certainly due to the hatred that the Argies have against anything Brazilian.

Then there's the staff who calls the Premiership, Uefa Cup, some internationals and the Libertadores games when Mexicans teams play, they are mostly Mexican although I know for sure there's a chilean there and I think a guy from Central America, although I'm not exactly sure from what country. These guys are US based and they call every game from the studio.

On the other hand, when Fox Espanol broadcasts games from the domestic Chilean, Colombian and Honduran leagues, they use local people, who most likely are the ones who make the original commentary for their own countries.

In the case of the Chileans I know for sure, because if you watch TV Chile International you'll see it's the same people.

Oh, and about this, you're absolutely right, those Argie Fox commentators are certainly biased in favor of the Argie teams, against anyone who plays against them and in favor of anyone who plays against the Brazilians.

the way i see it and this is my opinion only...
the commentating on fswe is excellent except for some sorry a$$ mexican dude. i do know that they favor argentine teams over any other team and they try to ignore certain things that happen in argentina..(Ex.) in the gimnasia v olimpia game a paraguayan was going to take a throw in and a fan was a few feet from the player and clearly spit at the player and it was so visible. the player even turned around and said something to him but the commentators kept on going on. but in the nacional v san lorenzo game they went crazy and demanded that the game be stopped.

    perdio river 3-1

Every match I've seen with a Colombian club the commentators were obviously rooting for the other team.

Most South American anouncers are homers. That includes the Brazilian anouncers too.

Cantor is a good anouncer, he tends to be fair to both sides. But Norberto Longo is an idiot. He distracts from the game with his irrelevant comments. (IMHO).

Actually that not true. I notice that they even give scores and data on local Brazilian championships so they at least do there homework and know the local rivalries in Brazil. YES they are biased, BUT they do know about teams and traditions from other countries.

Yeah, pretty much. Better than nothing though. Since I came back from uni I've seen Gremio vs. Penarol, River vs. Libertad and Santos vs. El Nacional. Plus some quality Serie A football, god bless Eurosport!

Ps. Sorry for lack of accents and stuff, I need to learn the num keypad codes since I started posting here ;)
