just looking at the arsenal first team squad for this season and i noticed we only got 5 fowards in the frst team squad - 1 of them is van persie who will play 90% of his games on the wing

another is jerimie "anderton" aliadiere so thats only a total of 23 mins of football from him this season

    leaving reyes henry and bergkamp.

we wont survive on 3 strikers throughout the season through injury, tiredness e.t.c....

    what are your thoughts guys?

van Persie is playing forward. He is in the mix w/ Henry, Bergkamp, and Reyes, and it will take some doing to crack that nut.

RVP11 has been playing as a winger so far for us, but i suppose that is what arsene does just to get em first team work.

aliadiere would be a good fourth choice this season if he wasnt so ********ing injury prone! that guy has the skillz to pay the billz and it could of been his big season but once again he is injured and will miss about half of it

RvP is a Bergkamp type player, we don't need another forward.

Even if we did have a shortage, we could always play 4-5-1 it's not like our midfielders never go forward..

I feel comfotable with what we have. Sure RvP and Pennant can fill in as well. Maybe more of a wing position, but can be incorporated to a forward position.

We have plenty of attacking power up front, so Arsenal will not need to un-convert their reserve left-back.

Aliadiere is already out for most of the season if I remember correctly. He injured his knee in the Community Shield.

Ljungberg played up front in one game last year I think. Maybe Pires can play behind the striker too. We can plug in a youngster like Quincy, Lupoli or Smith (when he comes back).

i guess it would be good to get another forward but we need to get defenders first b'coz defense looks messed up to me... thank god campbell is coming back soon...

anyway, i've always been amazed (and thankful!) that henry never seems to get seriously injured. i think he's really careful about it and we're really lucky... :D

agreed on the defensive prospects. also remember that angulo could have played as a forward.

Van persie is a striker, plus we are not rich enough to have experienced top class players.

But these players are class as it.

Van persie will be able to play up front becausew, we have so many adaptibility everywhere else in the team, clichy can play left mid, pires, ljungberg and reyes too

I think we're ok in the striker category until we have one more injury and an anway CL match. DB10 doesn't travel, so with Aliadiere out that leaves only three. Reyes and RvP are so young I'd hate to have yet another inexperienced player at that level of competition. It would have been great to have Angulo or Morientes - or to have held onto Wiltord. I know Wiltord had a poor final year with injuries and being out-of-favor but his talent and previous contributions showed he could perform, just perhaps not consistently enough to warrant the longer contract AW was not offering him.

Perhaps the January cash that the board has promised AW could go to fill in the gaps for a CL run in the spring.
