Well, they were scheduled to have one at Fullerton (or maybe Santa Barbara, I can't remember) but they went tits up in the Twin Cities the previous round, so such a match never happened. Well, the potential match in question (a quarterfinal vs San Jose) was scheduled for Wednesday, 8/4, while the XGames happened that next Saturday and Sunday, so there would have been a conflict.
This one was at Stockton, CA. It was supposd to be a semifinal doubleheader at Stockton, but the MetroStars were in the other semifinal and had a conflict with their league schedule. LA also played at Columbus in the 2002 final.
Hm. If RSL beats Minnesota, they go on to Colorado...there'd be a fair amount of bragging rights on the table for that one.
