From this morning's Union-Tribune (they haven't posted it on their website, even though the main "GOAL!" article is there), in the 'Sidelines' section: Happy Campers, by Mark Zeigler With no WUSA this summer, Julie Foudy has time to hold two girls-only summer camps - one in Mission Viejo from June 21-24 and one at the Olympic Training Center in Chula Vista from July 5-8. The staff in Chula Vista will look like a San Diego Spirit reunion, with Shannon MacMillan, Kim Pickup, Jaime Pagliarulo plus Brazilian star Sissi and members of the under-21 national team. The camp coordinator will be Ian Sawyers, Foudy's husband and former coach of the WUSA's San Jose CyberRays. "And we just won't go for a day and leave," Foudy says. "We're here for the whole time. I hate that when (pro athletes) show up for two hours and build the whole camp around it." For more information, go to www.juliefoudysoccercamps.com.
I just found out this afternoon that Ian Sawyers will be one of the guests on "Inside Soccer" this Saturday and he will be mainly talking about the soccer camps. I will post more information about this including the time of the interview when it is available.
