Fotop and Boyd to play in the All-Star Game! "The Women's United Soccer Association (WUSA) today announced that Carolina Courage forward Danielle Fotopoulos has been selected as a Commissioner's Pick for the 2003 Hyundai WUSA All-Star Game. Fotopoulos will suit up for the WUSA American Stars when they take on the WUSA World Stars on June 19 at SAS Stadium. The WUSA's May Player of the Month, Fotopoulos leads the WUSA in scoring with seven goals and six assists for 20 points. In addition, the 5-foot-10 striker is the league's all-time leading scorer with 27 goals and 22 assists for 76 points in her three-year WUSA career. A member of the 1999 U.S. Women's World Cup team, she has appeared 30 times for the U.S. national team, scoring 12 goals. With WUSA Commissioner Tony DiCicco's addition of Fotopoulos to the American Stars roster, the squad now features 10 players who were members of the 1999 Women's World Cup champions, including eight of the players who started against China in the championship match. Great for Fotop although from a purely selfish interest in the club I'd almost rather she got extra rest so she'd be extra-ready for the next game I'm not above wanting my team's players to have extra motivation to kick butt in games. I'm glad that Slaton will get time to rest the knee.

Thank you Tony for selecting her to the team. I get so sick and tired of the lack of respect for Danielle. She has never gotten the credit she deserves and how she was left off the all star team in the first place is just beyond me. I mean what more does she have to do? She leads the league in scoring, not just this year, but all time. Helps her team win the title last year, she's been a winner at every level. She may not be the most technical or prettiest player with the ball, but she scores goals and that's something that can't be taught. She's been doing it at every stage in her career and against the WUSA, she's done it better than anyone else. Now if that "expletive deleted" April would give her a freakin chance on the National Team, I'd be happy. Go Danielle, keep kickin butt and doing your thing, you rock girl.
