    Forum Guidelines

Welcome, all, to the BigSoccer 2022 World Cup. Below are the forum guidelines. It is expected you will read them before posting.

This forum is for reasonably civil discussion of the matches in this group. Please follow these guidelines while posting here:

    1. Supporters of all teams and nations are welcome. Posts must be relevant and on topic to the teams or matches of this group.

    2. Exuberant support for you team is welcome. Trolling, deliberately winding up your fellow posters, and personal attacks are not. And if your team wins, try to be gracious about it. If your team does not win, please be reasonable with your responses.

    3. Critiques of play or arguments are fine. However, attacks on posters or players based on identities or aspects thereof, such as race, gender, ethnicity, religion, and sexuality are not allowed under any circumstances. This includes slurs based on national identity. Some examples:

    Acceptable:
"I've never liked the Martian team. They dive too much."
    Not acceptable:
"I've never liked the Martian team. They dive too much, because they're a nation of criminals and perverts bred from goats."

    Acceptable:
"Man, those Martians are the most fouling team to have ever fouled."
    Not acceptable:
"Those Martians are idiots and only know how to foul. They probably beat their wives when the go home."

The two "not acceptable" examples (and other, similar posts) would likely get that poster banned from this group forum, and possibly the entire World Cup forum. If a ban were to occur, in general this is the process:
    1. Match day thread
    2. Group forum
    3. World Cup
    4. Yellow/Red card
Depending on the severity of the post(s), steps may be jumped. If there are posts of concern, use the "report" function at the bottom left of the post. Do not take matters in to your own hands. And also have some patience when reporting.

Additionally, we know many of you are aware of events and politics around the world. Please do not post about them here as there are fora for them (Politics & Current Events; International News; US Elections, etc.). This includes comments condemning the host, Qatar. This is not a “keep politics out of sport” guide. It is a management guide, and will allow us to let more posting occur. For all non-match comments, please use the general World Cup 2022 forum. Again, please keep it civil.

We're aiming for the kind of conversation that would keep a bar filled with a multinational, multi-allegianced crowd of patrons reasonably calm. If you start saying stuff that would cause someone in that hypothetical bar to throw a punch at you, chances are good the mods will step in. Normal moderating guidelines still apply (warnings, private/direct messaging, etc), but due to the fast-moving nature of the conversations there will be times that quick decisions might need to be made.

    Thanks and enjoy the Cup!

Final note 1 - Due to the nature of some groups, matches, or nations, there might be some difference in the way they are modded, but we mods will be following the above as a guide so that you can as well.

Final note 2 - Please don't post tweets in match day threads. This is because it slows down the loading of the threads and we want to make them as quickly readable as possible. Tweets in post match threads and elsewhere are fine.
