Forssell has been a regular starter (six games) for Gladbach since joining them, sometimes playing as a lone target man up front and sometimes playing wide in a three-man attack. On Saturday, he scored Gladbach's only goal in a 1-0 win over defending champs Dortmund. It was his first goal, to go along with an assist he recorded in his first game. Kicker has rated him an average of 3.42 (on a scale of 1 to 6, with 1 being the best). That makes him average. Personal observation (I've seen him play twice) is that he's demonstrated good instincts and very good skills, especially in tight spaces near goal, but lacks speed. Gladbach has been very happy with him, and just the other day approached Chelsea about extending the loan deal through the next season. Gladbach has already said they can't afford a transfer fee. Forssell himself seems open to extending the loan deal, but Chelsea has all the cards in this regard.
Forssell scored again this weekend against Hamburg in a 2-0 win--his second BL goal. He was rated a 3 by Kicker, one of Gladbach's better ratings. Gladbach was embarrassed last week, and Forssell's 5 rating reflected the team's abysmal performance. Bottom line, though, is that if Forssell is healthy he will be in the starting line-up.
Not bad though considering that he spent the entire season injured untill xmas and then had very light training before the move to you lads. Rumours abound now that there may/may not be a 9million Euro "buy" clause in the contract. Read that on official chat site.
