I agree and that failure was on Xabi. It's either we put Rodrygo on the left or we play with two forwards (Mbappe, Vini) and four midfielders. This entire disjointed mess is because we're trying to force certain players to fit to make the team work and when we do it's easy to exploit if you have the talent and work ethic.
Yes, it's very much so Xabi's failure that we have the world's first athlete with a signature pacifier and plushy line.
Vini’s imperfections are ingredients, not the whole recipe. Turning flawed structure into a toy store punchline doesn’t change where the tactical responsibility sits. So no, it wasn’t a long winded way of saying you’re right. It was a long winded way of saying your conclusion is wearing someone else’s wrong sized shoes.
I believe Vini, the two times ucl winner and scorer in both the finals, is to blame for all our issues no matter what the issue is. It all goes back to him. The people in our club must be so dumb not to see something so obvious.
Yeah I agree with you guys. I was one of those who wanted Vini reprimanded specifically because I felt it would harm team chemistry. However Vini isn't why we're dropping points no differently than Rodrygo. Yet those are the two mainstays who get showered with blame.
Here we go with the “your mom” tier wisdom. Shame it still leaves counter argument running on fumes. But hey, if that helps reducing the problem to “Vini bad, end of story” that’s fine!
There is absolutely no point wasting time discussing with a player's choirgirl that views [insert player name] as above the club.
Sure, but 50 mil. is treated like the stuff you knit into a doormat for the Premier League and they pretty much set the standard for us and Barca.
In Spain Real Madrid and Barca present the buying share of the clubs, the rest are selling, Atletico is basically finishing whatever Villareal, Alaves etc. come up with that isn't sexy enough for Barca and Madrid, and they move every player that tables an intriguing offer right away. So when you're buying, you're swimming in deep waters right now.
He's totally worth what we paid for him. I think a lot of times people can't tell the difference between a player that makes the collective work bad and a bad working collective that makes players look bad.
According to Transfermarkt, he's the 2nd most valuable left back in the world with a market value of 60 million, only behind Nuno Mendes. The market is the market, that's the asking price these days. He is leagues superior to both Fran and Mendy. We desperately needed him. Add in his versatility to play CB in a pinch, it's an A signing in my book.
I still feel Theo was a better value for money. We would have conceded more for sure, but the firepower he brings upfront would have helped assuage the Vini/Mbappe problem.
There was a point when Coentrao was fit, Marcelo was on the bench. Carreras ain't nowhere near, I do hope he gets there though.
Club most likely didn't want to invest in a 28 year old player that relies on speed and acceleration as much.
