So who are all the former EPL players currently in MLS and former MSL players currently in the EPL? and how are they doing, how have they adjusted to the move. First team players, that is. I don't follow the EPL as closely as I do MLS, so maybe someone else can provide more info. I know the yanks abroad thread lists who is in the EPL, but this is all former MLS players, not just Americans (see Nelsen).

    MLS to EPL

Ryan Nelsen - adjusted very nicely, one of the best defenders. Was great in MLS, is great in EPL

Beasley - He didn't go straight to the EPL, on loan (anyone know if this will be a permanent move?) at a not so great club, but has produced and done ok

Dempsey - doesn't get much PT, also on an average club but after that last saving goal, its clear he is valuable to the team

Bocanegra and Mcbride - team leaders for Fulham
Howard - despite the ManU-Everton controversy, seems to be one of the better keepers in the league

Friedel - had a bumpy road, was associated with and bounced around several different clubs in MLS and Europe, but seems to have settled in nicely at Blackburn

Hanhemann - didnt get much pt at Fulham, but has been key to Reading's rise

    Convey - get better soon!

Did Eddie Lewis play in the EPL with Leeds, or were they always in the championship?

    EPL to MLS
Xavier - I've been hearing mixed reviews about this guy, seems to be a solid player, very colorful, but controversial, we'll see

Reyna - was great for Man City, looks to be a good fit to provide veteran leadership to RBNY

Angel - so far so good. He was inconsistent at Villa. I don't know how much he enjoys playing in an empty stadium (not a jab, just being honest), but for a million and a half dollars, I'm sure he's fine. I also like that he is 31, so he doesn't fit into that "European player at 38 years old at the end of his career coming to MLS" stereotype. He still has five years in him

Cooke - I really like this guy, I don't know how he did on all those teams in England, but he is doing well in Colorado

Dichio - played in the EPL earlier in his career, then bounced around in the championship. judging by the last game, judging by the thousands of thread about this guy in the past week, I think this league will be a good fit for him. He seems to have struggled in his last few seasons in Europe.

Who else...oh yeah, apparently some former Man U, Real Madrid guy is coming to LA...

Those are just a few to throw out there, feel free to comment on these, and add more to the lists.

Beasley's heading back to PSV. Carl Robinson had a couple of games in the EPL (I think 8?) with either Norwich or Sunderland or one of those fringe EPL/Championship sides.

Simon Elliott at Fulham. The lad seems to have disappeared, though the Fulham site still lists him as a player.
Tim Howard - Good keeper in both leagues.
You forgot McBride and Boca who are both doing great jobs in a poor side.

You could go as far back as John Harkes and a little more recently Joe-Max Moore who both did decent jobs, indeed Harkes was a regular starter for Wednesday before dropping a division to join Derby, where I regularly watched him putting in solid performances week in week out.

West Ham were in the 1st division when Alex Bunbury played there, right? That was pre-Premiership, but not by much.

List of players who've gone from the EPL to MLS

Can anyone help me out here? Is there a list? Can we brainstorm and make on ourselves? Also, I'd like a list of MLS players who've gone on to the EPL.

Re: List of players who've gone from the EPL to MLS

    We're talking EPL to MLS.

Many people tend to forget that Jaime Moreno came to DC United following a stint at Middlesbrough. Granted he didn't get many first team appearances.

1996: Moreno joined United in August 1996, following a stint with Middlesbrough (English Premier League), where he was the leading scorer for the club's reserve team. Moreno scored five goals in 16 League and Cup matches for United.

And Yinka Casal of DC United comes from Fulham:

2005-2007: A member of Fulham FC reserve squad. Casal went on a scoring streak in the 2005-06 reserve season that saw him become the team's leading reserve scorer and earned him some appearances for the Nigerian U-20 team.

2003-2005: Casal Joined the Fulham youth academy at the age of 16. A speedy winger for the U-18 squad, he made his way up to the full team reserves in just two seasons.

Jim Brennan of Toronto FC played for Norwich from 2003-06, so he probably played during their EPL season (don't know). It's unclear to me how much Danny Dichio of TFC played in the EPL with West Brom (he was there 02-04, so I'm not sure of the overlap)

    Ronnie O'Brien:

1997-1998: Began his professional career at the age of 18 with Middlesbrough in the English league. Spent two years with Middlesbrough before signing a five-year contract with Juventus of the Italian Serie A.

    Carl Robinson:

2003-2006: Returned back to Portsmouth but struggled under manager Redknapp…was loaned out to Sunderland for three months…June 10th of 2004 signed a two year contract with Sunderland…he played 52 games for the Black Cats, scoring 6 times….joined Norwich City (League Championship) on a six week loan deal in November of 2005…

2002-2003: Joined Portsmouth (League Championship) in July of 2002 playing 15 games…loaned out in January of 2003 to Sheffield Wednesday (League Championship) seeing action in just 4 games, scoring once….later that season loaned to Walsall (League Championship) playing in 11 games, with a single goal

    Andy Welsh:

2004-2007: In November of 2004, Welsh impressed coaches at Sunderland while he was there on a three day trial, leading to his signing with the club. He finished the 2004 season with Sunderland and helped them earn a promotion into the English Premier League. His time at Sunderland was highlighted by seeing action in games against Liverpool, Fulham, and Aston Villa, and scoring on a free kick in a 2-1 victory over Crystal Palace. But his spell with the club was also spent battling injuries, and twice on short loans to Leicester City. It was in March 2007 that Welsh decided to continue his playing career in the MLS, coming to sign a contract with Toronto FC.

So there you go. I've gone thru 2 MLS teams. A bunch of players have been owned by EPL clubs, and even right before they moved to MLS. many of them might not have seen a lot of first team soccer, though. Kenny Cooper at ManU for example.
