Marc started again tonight in the League Cup semi-final and helped see us through to the final which will be against Rangers. the match was played on a dreadful Hampden pitch and it went to pens. 24 in all were taken and Marc tucked his away well. considering the state of the pitch he still passed the ball about wonderfully at times. it was noticeable to see both him and Nakamura lift their passes more and more rather than roll them along the bobbly surface. hopefully he plays in his first final for us on March 15th.
"Portsmouth To Sign Tottenham's Giovani Dos Santos On Permanent Basis" http://www.goal.com/en/news/724/pre...tottenhams-giovani-dos-santos-on-permanent-ba
^ i guess this transfer broke down at the last minute when Gio "failed" his medical for being too out shape to play immediately. What a loser.
they sold him for 8 million??? for doing nothing. we couldve held on to him for another half a year, and made another 4 mil.
He didn't sell. But there are conflicting reports as to why. It's unlikely that he wasn't match fit because he had just played the week before against Man U. The more likely reason is that Portsmouth came up 700,000 pounds short when it came time to pay up and the plug was pulled. But if he did sell, Barca would get like 2 or 3 million or something like that. It was in the contract when he was sold to Tottenham.
Marc had to go off yesterday after a challenge with a Queens Park player. he received treatment for a few minutes and came back on but limped off a couple of minutes later. it seemed to be an injury to his ankle but no news from Celtic regarding it is hopefully good news. if he is fit he is expected to start his first Rangers game when we play them at home in Paradise in the league on Sunday.
Watching a repeat of tonight's LDU Quito v Palmeiras match for the Copa Libertadores... there's something oddly familiar about one of the guys roaming in the back for Palmeiras... hey, it's one half of the Edmotta dynamic duo!! LDU Quito goes on to win. ETA: WOW nice header for a goal by Ed in the 47th!
Well, Motta is doing very well in serie A, Edmilson is scoring in Brazil(I don't remember him ever scoring at Barca)....so I think these two need to be as far away from each other as possible, in order to play well and stay healthy. The Edmotta curse lives on!
Off one of the front page blogs, a great goal by Marc Crosas: [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xKYIy7bz6lw"]YouTube - Crosas Goal[/ame]
Now that's what I call Kah Rah Tay! [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X8ZUsFkrNQE"]YouTube - Walk Hard - check out Jack White as Elvis[/ame]
Marc Crosas scored his first ever top team competitive goal yesterday in our 7-0 rout of St Mirren. it's the third goal in the highlights and it's an absolute peach. [ame="http://www.metacafe.com/watch/2502065/celtic_7_0_st_mirren_28_feb_2009/"]Celtic 7 - 0 St Mirren (28 Feb 2009) - Video[/ame]
Just when Ronaldo Gordo thought the epoxy glue that holds his knee ligaments had finally dried to make his long-awaited return at Corinthians, he gets popped in the eye with a reporter's microphone.
^^ This post is either an outrageously clever joke, or a heartfelt and sincere opinion. Maybe both. Well played.
Marc set up the first goal for McDonald last night in our 2-1 win away to Kilmarnock which saw us move back to the top of the league. our rightful place the midfield quartet of Crosas, Brown, Nakamura and McGeady is firing on all cylinders now and i'd imagine he'll remain a certain starter from now until the end of the season. barring any other injuries. fingers crossed that won't happen as his composure and ball retention make a huge difference to our team. Scottish cup this weekend and then next weekend it's the Scottish League cup final. the first Glasgow derby final for quite a few years. should be fun.
[ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YJNhEXAd-CU"]YouTube - UEFA tottenham vs Shakthar draw gol Giovani Dos Santos[/ame] Did anybody else see this? Didn't really do to much of this with us. I follow Tottenham in the EPL and he doesn't get much play time but when they put out a weakened side, Gio tends to be the best on the pitch. Certainly better than he was with us.
*Run towards the box, feint right, go left and shoot* He did A LOT of that with Barça. Perhaps too many times as he became so predictable every defender in La Liga was prepared for it. I can only assume Shakhtar hadn't studied the videos enough. The shot/goal itself was spectacular, but the move to set it up was all too familiar. I'd really like to see him develop a half-decent right foot if for no other reason than to let defenders know he's capable of using it.
