I don't think playing an extra forward would solve the problem if this is what you are getting at. Formation itself doesn't matter. This is soccer not football. If you play 3 forwards, well, you have 3 players standing around instead of 2. Your team might be better off playing 361 with all those attacking midfielders on your team with Santino playing on top by himself. Chicago playing that formation this season with either Faria or Razov being the lone striker on top. They are undefeated last time I checked. Their midfield doesn't look as clogged as US team was in 98. As long as you put the best 11 on the field, and your players are moving off the ball, creating space for each other, and completing simple passes, formation doesn't matter as much as people think.
