If Portugal lost and Santos was replaced, the latter could be seen as a silver lining.

But it's absurd to suggest we should root for Portugal to lose. Seriously, ******** off and be embarrassed.

You would rather have Portugal get embarrassed on the world stage?

I remember when we were embarrassed after the last world cup he changed things up rather dramatically, Now he has completely stagnated / doesn't care / senile / retarded.

When players decide to take their finger out of their own arses ( Bruno Bernado) we see a difference, I am not one to put all the blame on Santos

You think it's more embarrassing to suffer competitive, tough luck losses to Belgium or Uruguay in the knockout stage of the Euro or World Cup than it is to lose to Azerbaijan in qualifying, risk not winning the group, and having to qualify through a playoff (if at all)?

You've got weird criteria for embarrassing losses.

We can all be embarrassed by that and also acknowledge that losing to Germany - who Portugal always struggles against - in tournament play is in a completely different category than losing to a minnow and putting qualification in jeopardy.

Santos should have been gone after Euro 2020, but I assumed he'd play out his contract. I don't think Portugal is automatically better off with an unknown next manager than it is with Santos. I'm sure the squad would experience the usual new manager bump in performance for a break or two, but do we really think the FPF is beyond hiring someone more like Queiroz or Bento than Santos (or whoever your dream manager may be)?

Firing a successful manager is risky; they're usually replaced by someone who doesn't experience as much success.

Im sorry but I think for this team to be successful, it actually has to overcome our coaches selections and decisions. The difficult part is trying to find a quality coach at this time of the season is near impossible. Most coaches have been signed.
One name that is available ( I believe ? ) is André Villas-Boas. I prefer a younger coach with modern coaching techniques. Not much else available to my liking tbo

We all know though that a coaching change will not be made until his contract ends. There is enough talent and depth on this team to overcome dumb decisions and qualify.

I totally agree with you. I don’t think a replacement will be any better than Santos. One thing about Santos is that he’s willing to shake things up. Carvalho and Danilo were a disaster against Germany. He was willing to add new players in the team against France. I thought the team held its own against the French and were unlucky against Belgium. His substitution have also been excellent, bringing Mario in Guedes into the match changed things drastically.

Santos has shown an ability to
React but he can be too
Slow to react. The most impressive thing he did was drastically changing our lineup after the group stage of euro 2016 which helped us navigate the knockout rounds and eventually win the title.

    ideally, we should be entering
    Tournaments already with a firm
Idea as to what is our strongest lineup generally.

    Santos is still
    Starting Moutinho in many ganes
When he wasn’t even starting in 2016 when he was younger and still in his prime.
Joao Mario should have been called
To euro 2020 and was one of our best
Players this past international break. This shows very poor
    Judgment.

I’m not sure that a replacement at this time will be better. I agree that he’s slow to change things up but he ends up getting it right. I’m more peeved that he keeps sticking with Jota. My opinion is that Jota is to inconsistent to be a starter. I will love to see him play Sanches and Felix when they recover from their injuries.
