    Whew!

What a lucky win...and I was willing to accept the the draw as well. I was sitting there thinking how nice it was to see the team not give up 3 goals again. I thought they were going for some sort of record.

    Thank you Clint.

Unfortunately, I think it will be a short lived celebration. This team is far from being play-off ready. I wouldnt be surprised if they dont make it. We may have witnessed their last win of the season. I certainly hope not, but it wouldn't surprise me. If they do get into the play-offs then they will soon be out.

Oz should go after this year. He has led this team to a year of under-achieving. I dont even want to begin to tell you my reasoning the post would be to big. But I will say that you can give me cold or give me hot, but this team is luke warm at best and it makes me want to spit.

Lets start thinking about next year:

    Howard

    Petke
    Ziadie Awkari

    ? ?

    ? Williams Davis

    Diallo Mathis

Maybe we could keep: Chronopoulos, Faria, Lisi, Moore, & Ziadie on the bench.

Thank you Clint?? He did absolutely nothing. Faria did all the work, Clint just happened to be in the right place at the right time. I probably could have put that ball in the back of the net.

We still have two matches vs. this awful United club and one against the woeful Revs. No matter how much we suck, we can't help but win at least one of those.

Recording a shutout against those guys is hardly an accomplishment. DC would have trouble scoring 3 goals against a quality High School team.

The guy scores a goal and he did nothing? I can see if he played like shite the whole game and got lucky at the end, you can say that, but give me a break. Every goal cant be a piece of artistry. He made a great run, did what he needed to do to finish. Yeah, it was Faria's nice pass that set him up, but he put the ball in the back of the net. What do you want, him to somehow turn that into a bicycle?

If it was the other way around. Faria wouldn't have found the back of the net.

First, have we not yet learned the Mathis M.O.? Lollygag around for a while, lose your defenders, then pounce. He's the perfect striker. That's why he will be playing somewhere else either at the end of this MLS season or in the fall of '03.

Second, this team wins at least twice more this season. We have three matches against teams that will not make the playoffs. We cannot help but win a couple of times there. And, I would not be surprised if we win in LA on Saturday. (I'd be really shocked if we win in Dallas, however.)

Third, with regards to next season, there are maybe five untouchable guys on this team right now: Howard, Williams, Jolley, Petke and Davis.

-- Howard is our best long-term player and the best GK playing in America right now.
-- Williams is the playmaker for the next 3-4 years.
-- Jolley and Petke are, well, they're off the table, at least according to Nick.
-- Davis has loads of potential and plays really cheap.

Mathis is an unknown because of his contract. We will probably keep Ziadie, Moore, Grafer and Akwari; possibly keep Diallo, Paule, Faria, Lisi, Addo; probably not keep Chrono, Balboa and Klinger. We know Ramos is gone.

    What we need:
    1. A right sided midfielder. Who ever thought that we would pine for the days of Villegas?
    2. Another striker option. Even if we keep Faria and Diallo and Mathis is here next season, Diallo and Mathis cannot be counted on for a whole season. Klinger's been hurt. We need another starter-potential player here.
    3. A fourth starting defender.
    4. If Paule is gone, possibly a new d-mid. My guess is that OZ hopes that Moore will grow into this spot, but I'm not sure.
