For the new Houston team, what kind of name do you want ?? A europeanized name (FC Houston or Real Houston )?? Or a typical american name ??
since mls refuses to align with the rest of the world with the game itself (single table, playoffs, etc) the trend has been make superficial moves with names. i fully expect ac houston, deportivo tejas, bayern lone star...something just that ridiculous.
If it's anything along the lines of Real Salt Lake, I'll probably bumrush the podium at the newsconference that makes it official.
I'd be seriously floored if they had a name by tomorrow. Even if things were going on behind the scenes all this time, I can't imagine that AEG, MLS, or anyone had their ******** together enough to choose a name, design a bunch of logos, and even get to Kinko's to print them out and mount them 8th-grade-science-project-style on poster board. And, I REALLY can't believe that they'd give out the name, without the logo. So tomorrow, I expect a welcome from the mayor, news as to where they will be playing, questions about players, etc., and goals for a new stadium. Then they will announce that the team logo/name will come out around the beginning of February. ********, this is gonna suck.
[Guiness ad] Brilliant! [/Guiness ad] Actually, a "name the team" promo is a worthwhile gimmick to get the locals involved.

HOUSTON QUAKES? Or another name? I am curious to know if they will retain the name? thats kinda dumb i hope they change name and colors for Houston. Thanks
Re: HOUSTON QUAKES? Or another name? From my understanding, the new team will have a new name, colors, and identity. With MLS keeping the possibility of going back to San Jose open, they want to keep the Quakes name, colors, and legacy intact.
Channel 2 (Houston) Steve Mark said they would be announcing the team name tomorrow. Oliver Luck (CEO of the Houston Sports Authority) said the MLS team would be playing in Robertson Stadium.
Re: HOUSTON QUAKES? Or another name? Did you not read the press release? Because thats exactly what it says.
