    just thinkin...

with bradley coachin the metros and the metros having the #2 pick...

it would be great for alecko (and the metros) if dc were to somehow pass on alecko and let bradley groom him.....

    conspiracy theorists respond.

The only good points of going to the Swamp are that he would Bob as his coach and get to live at home. The pluses of going to DC are that he'll probably get more playing time, play on a regualr basis with future Nats team mates Convey an Q and build a good working relationship. Also in DC he would get to play on a great pitch all season as opposed to the cow pasture at the Meadowlands.

The other issue in favor of Metro is the Esky Sr. / Cosmos connection. With that said, I think Esky Jr. is going to DC because Ray wants him and DC has no interest in reliquishing the #1 pick.

Then again, assuming that DC & Metro pull off the Moreno / Pope trade and Metro get only one allocation, I would not be too surprised to see Metro use that allocation on Esky and take him out of the draft entirely.

The entire premise of this thread is nuts.

It's a fundamental mistake that many, many, many, many posters make, looking at MLS and its teams solely through the prism of the Nats.

For the good of the Nats, it's most important that MLS survive, and critical to its survival is that fan's not perceive it as WWE-esque.

    not true....

i think you're looking at it the wrong way...

nothing wrong with wanting a good player to get great coaching.....for the good of the national team...

i'd also prefer a trade here and there to keep the young guys off the bench......for the good of the national team...

i don't go to mls games to support national team players...i go to watch the metrostars and soccer....

mls has proven its impact on the national team and deserves our support....hell, if it weren't for mls, arena may have never been our coach.

so yes, i'd prefer eski to go to a team with a coach who can play him and develop him so he can contribute to mls and hopefully, the national team.

if there's a good player in the draft who's played on the US youth teams, i hope he goes to a team and coach that will play him....

I say the Quakes should trade up and take him, just so we can sit the top college player on the bench and then trade him for three years running.

But what role does he have with the Nats?? 13th forward or so?? Lets see him do something and then worry if he is being brought along correctly for national team duty.

Alecko may never see time with the Nats....that's ok, Ralston hasn't seen much time either, and he's a helluva MLS player. Alecko has a ton of competition in front of him.
