Me and my friends, we have this term that we use. If you are of Latin descent, you probably know the term "Choppo". But for the Americans, Europeans, etc. you will now learn this very important term. Say you are driving down the road with a few friends. Miguel is in the passenger seat and looks over at this 80 thousand dollar Mercedes. On this Mercedes is gold rims, tinted windows, an obnoxious spoiler and cheesy windshield wipers. What's more, despite the tinted windows the driver has his window down and is blasting his eardrums with horrid music in an attempt to "be seen". Miguel looks over and then says matter of factly: "F**ing choppos..." There is no need to put all of that $hit on an already nice car. As if the designers thought the leather, etc. wasn't good to begin with. But the choppo will do anything possible to get recognized or seen, regardless of how stupid he ends up looking. Gold chains around the neck, stupid attitude, etc. In the US, the closest thing to a "choppo" is like a rapper. In some ways the term is hard to explain and doesn't really translate but I hope you get the picture. Choppo: idiot kid with baggy shorts with a sun-visor to the side of his head and sunglasses on at the same driving a 1995 Honda civic with used $500 rims, etc. How is this relevant? I saw this car on the net today - it's a concept from Toyota that revisits the Celica... I can just imagine the videos, etc. The rear is actually a seat! So people sit in there, etc. I don't know how that'll fly with safety concerns but who knows... Anyway, I like cars almost as much as I like music, and saw that Lexus is coming out with a pretty funky IS 300 in 2005 called the IS 430. Sort of funky. Supposed to have 300+ horsepower, redesigned, etc. They're supposed to be expanding the IS 300 model into coupes and convertible too to counter BMW. Meanwhile BMW is targeting Lexus SC 430 with the 645i. I will post a pic.
I kinda don't like the front of this one. They're releasing it as a coupe, then as a convertible later on. Sort of reminds me of the old 850's. Check Car & Driver.com for more pics, info.
These are no more assinine than idiots that bolt aluminum tails to their Dodge Neons, hook up neon lights to the underside of their '89 Civics, or use a muffler that makes their Subarus sound louder than they already are. Every single last one of these jackasses need to be lined against the wall and shot.
"Choppo Stories" Yes yes that is true! (especially the getting shot part). But the whole "Choppo" phenomenon is more than that. You see the choppos if you go to a bar, and there's this idiot making an ass of himself to get attention. He'll always try to go at his friend's expense or even yours if he's trying to impress some chick. I'm telling you the *#*#*#*#*#*#ing choppo's suck. I went to this place, Sofia's, in Boston. It's a sort of latin club. One of my buddies female friends saw this choppo sitting at the bar that she used to work for. The guy was like 45, had his top four buttons from his shirt un-buttoned to expose his hairy chest and golden cross. Not only that, but the guy swore he was "la bomba" with his shades on (at 11:30 at night in a dark club) and sipping on a sex-on-the beach. Not that I for cared, that night was a good night - met this smokin' Colombian girl. Anyway at the end of the night, the choppo had the valet get his car - it was like a 93 BMW 325 with all the $hit on it, including a Puerto Rican flag that covered the entire rear windshield. It was absolutely hilarious. So when the choppo asked if we wanted to hang out at an afterpary, after me and Migs laughed, we just said "No." F***ing choppos. And they're not just latin guys. They're guys from all over that are like this like you noticed. White, Black, Asian, Latin... from everywhere. The "Choppo" virus does not attack one ethnicity.
