between the two, defintely glenn davis derek rae clearly does the best job of anyone on the espn network. i remember listening to bob lee (i think) as well as jack edwards and liked them, too.
neither one, when I watch soccer most of the time is in Spanish and if the game is in English I cross my fingers that I get to hear it with some English guy and not American. the american ones they talk about BBQ or how the ball is made hahahaha and not about the game.....and when a team scores a gol......they said Goal...so sad that I almost cry hahahahaha
If my choices are a guy who draws a paycheck from the Houston Dynamo or a mildly incompetent soccer announcer, I'll grudgingly pick the latter. I don't like Dave O'Brien by any stretch of the imagination, but I don't ever have to question his bias on ESPN's soccer broadcasts.
Here...let me educate you: Glenn Davis: Dave O'Brien (the guy you're talking about):
I tried to post a poll when i posted this but it didnt work for some reason. if someone wants to post a poll about this please do!
John Harkes may be replacing Eric Wynalda so talent evaluation at ESPN is ongoing: http://www.socceramerica.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=Articles.showArticleHomePage&art_aid=25245
I do feel bad for Waldo. I thought he was pretty good. That said, I thought that JP and Harkes were fantastic doing the games at WC 2006. So, this is in my opinion a good thing.
If true, I suppose this would repudiate some of the arguments that soccer/MLS games on ESPN needed to be dumbed down/tarted up/controversial/appeal to X-gamers, etc.
JP and Christopher Sullivan (the color guy has to be a moron) no seriously I think Harkes is a good choice he knows the game and the players.
Ray Hudson sucks and just because a guy has an "English accent" doesn't make him any good... just go find the KC broadcast from last year when Paul Rideout did a game - he was horrible.
