Bush has got nothing left but war. Indeed, as ass-backward as it may sound, the violent murder (ritual sacrifice?) of numbers of Iraqis is the only thing that will allow Bush to return to his office for another four years; such is the enlightened manifestation of our citizenship here in the US of A. Why is Bush actually left with no other way to hold onto an office he never really earned? Let's take a look... Two years ago, surpluses of 5.6 trillion dollars were forecast for this nation. Friday, the CBO published their new projection, submitting that "President Bush's budget proposal would produce unyielding deficits through the next decade totaling $1.82 trillion." The UN split has widened as our own allies dismiss any deadline, and re-assert their intent to block force-based resolutions on Iraq. Unemployment is on the rise, and "economists warned that February’s widespread job losses signal a frail economy in danger of toppling back into recession." The Pope, for what its worth, is against this war generally, and US relative unilateralism in particular. As is the World Council of Churches. U.S. Senators submit they were "fooled" into sanctioning Bush's actions regarding Iraq to this point. And in spite of the fact that the Democrats (aka the center-left faction of the FU's - the Financial Unicrats, the one party that runs this nation) abjectly failed in their "efforts" to act as a check and balance to Bush, and even though there has been, seemingly, regular progress on the real front (the effort to bring those responsible for supporting the 9/11 perps to justice), doesn't it appear, both inside the nation and out, that Bush has nothing left but to try and, not unlike the claims of the local whino down the street, "move the floor on everyone" by leaping first to a "last resort" war? I mean, what else has the man done? He thinks that this war will be the measure of him, and in ways he hasn't even begun to try and think about (too much actual cerebration hurts his Dubya-head), he's absolutely right.
Let me tell you, and everyone else here; Helen Thomas was right on point with her comments to the Daily Breeze(?). Absolutely. This is the worst supposed leader we have ever known, in every way. The problem is that he reflects us, he IS reflective of the society we've allowed to happen. We cannot blame Bush for Bush; Bush is us. We must blame ourselves.
Re: Re: For Bush, it's going wrong in so many ways his only "salvation" is WAR. In many ways this is true. Except that this time, with Rumsfeld and Wolfowitz directing this president (intentional lower-case "p"), we are heading towards an unprecedented dissolution of American "influence" around the world; how will that play out? We'll see, but I'm afraid it will destabilize the world and lead to more open conflict, particularly in Asia and Africa, while ensuring that the Bin Ladens of the world have plenty of fresh deaths from which to recruit the relatives thereof to the cause of destroying us. In the end analysis, and particularly without UN support, who else can they POSSIBLY blame but the US and UK? Rest assured, this president has no other choice in his mind, but not because of any moral or religious sensibility. He may claim to "read the Bible everyday" during this crisis, but he's meeting with his military and his energy-buddy cronies much more than that...
