Do we need R's in these threads?? Just to be safe...

Anyway, I was watching my Falcons lose a game they should have won on Sunday (2 dropped TD passes), and while I was marvelling at the Phenom that is Michael Vick, I kept hearing this faint, random trumpeting in the background. It sounded quite like one of those impromptu fan bands that you see in Europe. I am wondering if those folks in Green Bay (who already have great fans) are taking their cue from soccer??

On another note, I thought I was going to see an all out riot in Cleveland after one of the weirdest endings to a NFL game ever. C-Land already has my vote for "Most Likely City to Suffer and in season football riot", as opposed to the all but necessary post season riots. :)

    Okay, since you asked...

This is the stupidest thread I've seen in this forum in months. Seriously.

    Heh heh. :D

I can't wait till winter hits Green Bay and someone posts "OMG! Did you see the Packers fans wearing SCARVES?"

I guess youve never seen a High School or College game with 10 trumpets, drums, and other instruments.

Your freakin' hilarious, seriously. I know, it's hard to believe, a post about something completely random on BigSoccer of all places.

My point was, it wasn't your classic pep band, just sounded like some dude brought his trumpet to the game to make noise with.

It's understandable, I would be looking to rip other people's posts if my soccer and football teams played in New Jersey, too...:)

At the Broncos game, they do the wave. I bet they stole it from the Colorado Rapids fans.

NFL Hall of Famer Jan Stenerud was (I think) American football's first soccer-style placekicker. IIRC, he was at Colorado on a skiing scholarship when the grid coach discovered him kicking a soccer ball. Coach asked him if he could kick a gridball like that, and the rest is history.

Back on topic- I've been to a few high school grid games where individuals brought drums and trumpets, even tho there was a band. The other side of the coin isn't so pretty. A HS coach I know tried a few years back to get the band director to allow the band's drummers to come to the soccer matches and play(they wanted to), but he told the coach the drums were for football games only. Funny thing is, the school has a heavy international population (about 65%), and most of the kids play soccer in their spare time Usually 120+ go out for soccer. The grid team has won something like 5 games in the last four years, and has perhaps 20 members.
