Humm let´s see if someone can help me to find more footballers involved, or involved once in music. For me fooball is a sport vey close to arts and music, the sport is also considered as art. I know these few ones: Rod Stewart: he played football in aclub before his music career, he think he wasn´t good enough so finally became a musician. Julio Iglesias: one of the most important romantic singer from Spain of all times (father of Enrique Iglesias) He played professional football as a goalkeeper, and if I´m not mistaken:he played for Real Madrid division ¿?. But had an accident and was 3 years on a bed, then he became a musician. Argentinians are the coolest South American rockers. I have heard German Burgos (Goalkeeper of Atlético de Madrid) rock band and is very cool. The guy is a good South American Rocker to my ears. Diego Maradona:friend of some stars and have recordered some songs, had a good voice, even tough I was not used to see him singing tropical music. Juan Sorin was discovery having a great time dancing in a rock show...while he were injuried LOL. ON WC 2002 official album you can hear footballers as Veron, Figo, Henry, Bartez, Zidane ,Roberto Carlos etc etc singing "Love united" at the end a final spoken message in their native language. And what about the video LOL, very funny.
Gavin Rossdale of Bush was supposed to be a pro soccer player in England before a knee injury. I don't know how much truth there is to that.
Many Brazilian players, known or unknown always enjoy the samba carnivals.Big partys. I have a CD called Batucada Especial Futebol WHich is a percussion music used in the stadiums, very nice!
Remember last year when ESPN did an episode of The Life with Landon Donovan? Pablo singing to the Landon bobblehead was hilarious.
does anyone have a clip of that episode for download or to send via mail -- i don't know what to bargain, but i'd appreciate it. pm me if you can thanks.
Pele likes to sing. On the biography on E!, one of his former teammates (I forget who) on the Brazilian national team said that before games Pele liked to karaoke to the entire time. The teammate rather jokingly said he'd much rather see Pele play football than sing.
Badly drawn boy was on a premiership clubs youth team (I think man u) before deciding to go the direction of the beautiful game. i think bruce dickinson (the singer from iron maiden) played soccer. i know there are more, but i am drawing a blank right now oasis at one time had a major finiancial intereset in man city. elton john has aot of money in watford
From what I understand, Richard Ashcroft (formerly of The Verve) was an outstanding player as a kid and had trials with Man U but lost interest and went into music.
I've read that Melchiot and Bogard from Chelsea, had a couple of 2 step joints out of Amsterdam, i read that in World Soccer.
I can't believe I forgot to mention Anfield Rap: http://www.thisisanfield.com/features/00000028.shtml
Here's a non-sequitor for you. My aunt, an American, is married to a Scottish lady, and they live in England. One time they were in a fairly nice restaurant with their baby in tow, and the baby started crying. My aunt decided to be the one to take it outside, and as she's standing outside with the baby she sees a guy doing the same thing, trying to calm his baby down. They start to joke about the situation they're in together and talk for 5-10 minutes, until the lady the guy is with comes outside, shoots my aunt a go to hell look and gets the guy to leave with her. My aunt goes inside and tells her friend about the man she met outside, and all of her friends just look at her like, "Do you now know who that was?" It was Badly Drawn Boy, apparently. She said he's a nice guy, but she had no idea who the hell he was.
Bruce Dickinson as a footballer sounds very familiar to me, in fact I remember there´s an Iron Maiden video where the guys plays. I have heard Bruce was also history teacher... Well, this is very common in footy countries. Brazil they play and dance Samba Argentina they are more rockers. Colombians are Salsa dancers But, truly, the world of football is musical.
