Just come across a picture of the German World Cup winning squad of 1990 and there is some beautiful specimens. Kohler, Brehme, Littbarski, Augenthaler even Matthaus has a bit of mullet action going on. What is it that draws Germans to this dodgiest of hairstyles? This World Cup seemed to mark the end of the mullet era and for me football hasn't been the same since.

Check out the documentary "American Mullet". There is a portion dedicated to soccer mullets.

Documentary?? Is this available to buy then?? Somehow, I can't see it being on TV as the schedules are chocca with crap already. Any good American soccer mullets then? I seem to remember Tony Meola experimenting with one.

It was on Trio. I get that channel through Comcast. You can buy it through their website, www.partyintheback.com . They showed Etchevery for a bit.

The entire 1990 World Cup squad rocked the "business in the front, party in the back" look. I believe Marcelo Balboa had the most glorious mullet, especially since it was accompanied by a mustache, though Tab Ramos and John Harkes looked good too.

My favorite modern day mullet is Takayuki Suzuki's:

    1988-1991 reign of mullets

Well, now that many people here seem to have a big insterest in that thing of mullets or hair style, I will say:Italy 90 was the reign of footballers with mullets, specially english: Chris Waddle and Mark Wright!! And Sweeden Brolin!!
But today, some may say Batistuta or any other Argie use mullet; is not true:

Takayuki Suzuki's is NOT a mullet. That's just long hair.

My vote is for Chris Waddle's mullet.

The ultimate soccer mullet was sported by Alejandro Mancuso in 93' when he was on Argentina's national team. Sorry no pic

Oh, I forgot about that US player, the perfect mullet-player!

Now now, you're being too strict! I say as long as the back is long and the front is short-ish, it qualifies as a mullet.

But if it makes you feel better, I think Facundo Sava has a more classic mullet. :)

Roberto Baggio had a pretty pimped out mullet for most of his career I would say he had one of the most festive "parties in the back" around 93 and the 94 WC because the hair was braided by individual strands while the top looked like a mini afro I can't find a pic but I know some of you know what I am talking about.

Also for good American soccer mullets the players form the first Misl and Npsl indoor soccer leagues had a serious case of the rock the mullet syndrome.

Rudy and Randy Pikizinski teh brothers who played for the Buffalo team both had mullets up till the mid to late 90's that were down to their mid back area. they were also about 3 feet tall so it look like one of those "Lucky Troll" dolls was running around on the field when the 2 of them were playing.
