Football Draft Clash

Hey guys, we all have our different perspectives on football and fair share of disagreements. However, I think I have a great idea for a game that we could play that would spark some great discussions and debates if there are enough memebers interested.

Essentially, the idea is that we draft players in a NBA style with each member forming their own 11 (+ 3 subs) to their liking as if they were managers and subsequently we play a KO tournament where members go head to head. For each fixture, members will have time to make a case for their team - convince others why would they win in the fixture. The winner of the fixture is eventually decided by a community pole and he advances into the next round.

For example, if there were 4 members who play, by a random selection we decide an order of picks. Every other round of picking the order is reversed. So something like this:

1st pick - member A
2nd - member B
3rd - C
4th - D
5th - D
6th - C
7th - B
8th - A
9th - A

And so on...

KO fixtures are also randomly decided. Then for each fixture we give like 72 hours for two members to debate and argue using any way method and style - videos, stats, feelings, insults,.. then we open up a community poll and see whose team would win in a real match based on opinion of everybody..

We can use any defined pool of players we agree upon. It would be quite fun for example to use only players from 90s or only all time south american players, etc.. I suggest that we start with current players. However, we should agree on things like form and injuries beforehand. We are not considering the most recent form but player's general level at his current age and we are assuming all players are fit and healthy.

It think it would be super fun because we would get a list of top 100 most valuable players in the world per bigsoccer forum and stuff like that.

I think 8 participants would be the least number that would make it fun.

I am very happy with my squad. It is fun because your team is very cool, but you have such a different perspective than mine. I would have never gone that route. Curious to see what you came up in terms of set up and tactics.

Edit: possible future idea is to limit number of players from the same team to 3 or something like that. It would give an extra element to strategy.
