Folarin Balogun at AS Monaco

Like, literally literally, what part of this sentence: "it's kind of fun to see YAs featuring on so many top McDonald's clubs atm." is confusing?

 

No one sane keeps track of, or refers to, leagues by their title sponsors.

 

No one sane posts on BS as much as either of us do, neither, I am afraid.

(But also, this is literally in the Balo thread, and everyone on earth that cares enough about footie to follow Balo on a BS board knows that McD's became the Ligue 1 sponsor - or at least they should. And anyone can read a league table, I would hope.)

 

I only know they because you keep referencing it.

I honestly don’t keep up with and try not to keep up with random sponsors of any league.

Wake up people! The golden arches has been Ligue 1 sponsor since last (2024) summer. I bet you healots didn't even know it was UberEats before that!

 

Uber Eats Ligue 1 was objectively funnier than McDonald's Ligue 1.

Prove me wrong.

 

McDonald's is funnier, IMO. It screams consumerism more than Uber Eats. It's like Coca-Cola, a real classic brand.

 

No one sane should.

OTOH the Jupiler (Belgium)? Liga Sagres (Portugal)? The Conference (England)?

Monaco couldn't hold on to the lead and it ended 1-1.

 

Highlights. Balo rips one at the keeper around 7:15 then scores a decent enough goal right after.

 

Beautiful pass to set up that goal. Good team play.

Ended 0-0 despite Monaco having the better of shots and sog. Match report I saw gave Balo 4 shot from inside the area before subbing out at 83

 

Highlights (youtube) show that he missed some chances where you would like to see a top-quality striker score. Of course, he was no worse than several of his teammates who missed equally good (or better) chances. ....I mean, based on highlights, Monaco could have put six or more in....

 

I watched the first half and he put some good shots on goal. They got saved. It happens.

Balogun started! and scored! putting Monaco briefly 2-1 ahead of host Nantes.

Currently 2-2 at halftime.

 

Balogun's goal - defense playing a high line 35 yards out but Balo was uncovered - no one with four yards. Nice touch on a through ball gives him a clear 1 v 1 with the keeper and he calmly wins that matchup.
