I don't what you all think, but, this year, and especially recently there has been a certain something missing. Last year, even during the slumps I always felt that we had a feel of "destiny" for a better way to put it... However, this year there is something wrong...in thinking about it I think it is less focus in the issues at hand. The team has been severly disrupted by international call-ups and injuries which has affected the chemistry...but, I think the major problem is being affected by other circumstances, i.e. the officials. Yes, we have had some bum calls this year, and its frustrating, but now, Donovan and Yallop seem obssessed by them. Donovan esp. seems like he he's going into the game waiting for a bad call...He probably has a case (I'm not listing examples, we've been through that how many times) and I'm not condoning any of those decisions (like, when did I let a ref get away with a call?..) What I am saying is its time to focus on the games at hand, get back the play-off magic from last year, ignore the outside hassles and play like we know they can as a team and individuals... Comments?? -Richard
How can I even comment when that was put so perfectly. I've said the exact same things offline to my friends. Especially after the comments after the last game. The reffing is out of the team's control. There's a time and place to take up that issue. And on the field is not the time and place. Just play the game to win. Not to the calls. And the wins will come cuz this team is capable of them. With all the injuries earlier in the year and the international call ups, we still maintained first place. Now we've lost it. I'd say that speaks to a deeper problem. LACK OF FOCUS!!!!! Come on guys get your heads in the GAME!!!
Maybe you two are right. But this season is so different from last year. Then we were bottom-feeders on the way to the top, now we're king-of-the-hill trying to stay there, hit by all kinds of absences, injury-induced and otherwise. We may be a bit spoiled and arrogant as we face a league much tougher than last year. There certainly isn't the high I got from the team in 2001.
