I would be so embarrassed to be part of such union. The dude who wrote this statement, I assume it may come from the Union head, seems to be barely literate. https://t.co/WCQycNDWG5 pic.twitter.com/27rdPiGeyE— David Begnaud (@DavidBegnaud) June 5, 2020
It's as if these dickwads dont realize (or more likely, don't care) they're being filmed almost all the time when out in public being SOBs
YES. I've had this thought any number of times lately -- that "we were only following orders" is not remotely a Get Out of Jail Free card.
If we do that, why don't we just move this back to the racism thread as that is what BLM has been about since...always. And this is not the first BLM protest, either.
This is an incorrect depiction. They don't rank only slightly above mall cop. If you're comparing them to random state/local park police, don't. They're another thing entirely and have a tremendous amount of power in the DC area. They do, however, drive MPDC crazy in the ways they assert that power.
Both my sisters and their husbands believe Antifa is hiding around every single corner in every single protest each and every day to instigate and cause trouble. Most of my other immediate relatives believe such nonsense too. It's tough to be a liberal in a small town with a high percentage of scared, ignorant, and hateful people (or at the very least, mistrustful of things deemed 'different').

Philly Police Inspector has been placed on desk duty and is being investigated for aggravated assault after video surfaces showing him going ham on a protestor. The protestor was arrested for allegedly tripping a bike cop resulting in the officer breaking his hand. The video showed that the protestor never actually touched the bike cop and may have gotten his beating for having the gall to walk past the Inspector and telling the Inspector to go "F**k himself" after the Inspector grabbed him for no apparent reason. https://www.inquirer.com/news/phila...-student-joseph-bologna-protest-20200605.html
I know this will probably never get any serious consideration by any local council (especially in smaller towns) or state government, but I'd like to see all law enforcement people be unarmed or as armed as their counterparts in the United Kingdom. Abolish conceal-carry laws for citizens too. Illinois was the last state in the country to have a conceal-carry law, and the Illinois Sheriff's Association was one of the biggest cheerleaders for such a law to come to pass. The Illinois General Assembly would never pass legislation to grant conceal-carry, but the courts sort of made that decision for the legislature. I had a discussion with a local police officer about it. He didn't necessarily disagree with me, but he was still OK with the provision to allow it. I told him all the cops in Illinois that responded to a call or stopped somebody to give them a ticket or a warning were at greater risk with a conceal-carry law. They will have gone from assuming no one had a gun on them (and if they did and it wasn't properly cased or stored, they could be charged with a misdemeanor) to assuming everyone had a gun on them. It just seems like more tension and drama could unfold because of conceal-carry than if it weren't allowed. However, I'm not a gun owner, so what do I know?
LA Galaxy released Katai. That was unavoidable. .@LAGalaxy release Aleksandar Katai following racist posts by his wife https://t.co/cX4aO9TRKb— Kevin Baxter 🇺🇦🏳️🌈 (@kbaxter11) June 5, 2020
Again, the pathological lies. Let's step back and think of the number of innocents that have been framed and gone to jail based on these guys lies.
This is amazing. Slate took some of the best comments from citizens calling into the LA Police Commission's Zoom meeting. The comments are blistering and the populace is irate. https://slate.com/news-and-politics/2020/06/must-watch-la-police-commission-zoom-meeting.html
I've never seen 'em on one. I have seen MPDC and Capitol Police (which I think are the two largest police forces inside DC) on Segways from time to time.
Seattle mayor announced a 30-day moratorium on using CS gas to disperse crowds and Seattle City Council is working on legislation to ban police from hiding/disguising their badge numbers. The badge number legislation is sure to get a 1st Amendment lawsuit filed against it. My personal fav is the Mayor saying the moratorium is to get the various police accountability groups to come up with recommendations.... All/most of the groups have already recommended that the police ban the use of CS gas and some have recommended against the use of pepper balls as well: .@mayorjenny says she's asking police reform advocates to do a systemic review of police crowd control methods. These advocates have, in many cases, already made specific recommendations about crowd management, particularly the @seacpc.— Erica C. Got it, you’re correct that I was thinking of other types of park police. That and exaggerating for effect because mall cops are funny....
