Don't forget to like the Florida Tropics on facebook A Big announcement will be coming soon #Masl#Nasl#MLS#Florida#soccersam#Indooeproleague#usl#indoorsoccer#maslarena Like and share this post & spread the word https://www.facebook.com/FLTropics/?fref=ts
They will be in the ( IPL ) Florida , Baltimore, St louis. Hartford, Providence RI, Buffalo NY , ( "rochester" could return ) Chicago , Syracuse , Harrisburg Cedar Rapids may also be joining. This is what I am hearing right now .
Remember when there was going to be a team in Minnesota? Remember when Detroit was coming back? Remember when Boston was going to have a team? Point being: until someone says what they are actually doing, it's all rumor. It's as ephemeral as Florida's Facebook likes.
The Florida Tropics will be announced in April , with the IPL . Logos have been finalized and Florida is already marketing the team .
Marketing the team how? Do they have sales people (plural), do they have a presence in Lakeland, are they supporting anyone or anything? Seriously, I have worked with Andrew, he was upfront and honest with me. But how is he marketing the team? Are there radio ads? Are there billboards? Do kids soccer teams know about them? Can I buy 2 for 1 tix at a gas station? So far all I've seen is a Facebook page. That's not marketing, that's ABA level Joe Newman style marketing. Believe you me. That doesn't work......ever. Joe Newman style doesn't work
The Wave marketed almost exclusively with Facebook and Twitter this seaon and, well... strike that. Attendance sucked for a team that's been around over 30 years.
They are working with teams now , here is a link to the website with early bird specials for season tickets http://www.fltropics.com/ Here are some of what they have been doing in the comunity already https://www.instagram.com/fltropics/
We have 4 full-time people in our office in Lakeland...5th one starts next week. Coaching Staff hired. We have done some target marketing on social media, and done about half dozen or so community events, but we are really mainly doing behind the scenes stuff until our press conference in late April. It doesn't make sense to do a lot of advertising this far from the season. We are more focused on building relationships in the community, and also the soccer community. Both which we have had good success so far with. Our office phones are up and working! So feel free to call our office 863-333-5353.
Everything looks to being done right and seems like it has an amzing vibe and energy, success on the field is going to be a huge factor. Marketing can get on and off again drive by fans to pony up a few buck to take their kids to see a game but a quality winning team creates fans which in turn bring consistent crowds and market the team to their peers.Hopefully Tropics will be a winner.
I'm hoping they will be a winner too Waynecorp. But me "hoping" something will work and it actually working, are entirely different things. Thanks for coming next here Andrew, best to Leah. Paul
Theres a good article online about how the owners of the Wizards and capitols are going to really push hard to get " millenials" involved and engaged with their new AFL team. I believe thats what Tacoma started doing this year andwould be a good idea to follow. Draw the Familes of course but not a bad idea to get the bearded hipsters involved. MLS fans are dominated by that age group.
I'm guessing this is the article: http://www.washingtonian.com/2016/03/24/dc-arena-football-team-millennial-sensitive-ted-leonsis/
also this from another article: Look for cameras on jerseys and helmets and players taking the field mic’d up. Expect lots of virtual reality — something Monumental is already exploring. And travel packages, meet and greets and other unique gameday experiences will be part of the package for a millennial audience that wants to spend money on experiences (instead of stuff) and engage in real-time communication, according to Leonsis.
Generally speaking, I am ALL ABOUT truth in advertising... But if it helps put more butts-in-seats (especially PAYING customers' butts)... maybe it's OK to ever-so-slightly exaggerate now and then?
First, are those advertisements real? (please tell me they aren't) Second, as a point of reference (per Google Maps): Lakeland is 55 miles (south)west of Orlando Lakeland is 35 miles east to Tampa
Huge fan of Monty Python, The Three Stooges, and Seinfeld so, yes, I have a sense of humor. If the ads are fake for the attempt at humor, uh, okay. I had to check Google Maps to double check mileage as I was pretty sure Lakeland wasn't single-digit miles from either Orlando or Tampa, but , hey, that's just me.
