so you're trying your best to be an obnoxious troll because we don't agree that coaching is the main problem in SJ? back on ignore you go.
It is, but thats how this league defines success, whatever everyones personal opinion is means nothing. The league is structured by MLS Cup Playoffs. Your a failure if you dont qualify. Teams build to make the playoffs. Teams arent building for 1st place in the regular season, they build for a full sustainable season. Thats why they pace themselves and can take a loss and drop points when sitting the first team. The Galaxy, Miami, Columbus, Everyone does. This league isnt built like Europe where you fight for #1 and thats it. So yes... factual baseline success is playoff qualification. What I personally think success is... means nothing.
Ok, fair enough if that's good enough for you. We've all got different versions of success. Columbus won MLS cup and play an attractive game that to me is being successful in MLS. If not, you're Philly and although we all watched them the last handful of seasons looking like maybe relying on your academy was the way to go for a team like ours, time has shown us that it's not really it. Their fans are sick of it and are screaming for their owners to spend more. That's what I'm trying to get across. We're so far behind that we'd settle for just making the playoffs for 2-3 seasons running. Not good enough for me, if you participate in tournaments is to win or nothing matters. No one remembers 2nds, 3rds or were ever you end up. With all that said, I've given up and just watch this train wreck that's our Quakes and whatever happens, happens. I've got my Boca jr's who've always tried winning every single competition they play in and the FO tries it's best to put together a very competitive team or people lose their jobs every single season. Boca's coach got canned yesterday because we lost our clásico against riBer plate, got kicked out of copa sudamericana and lost 4 in a row. We're middle of the pack and it's just not good enough. Because success is winning trophies nothing else matters. That's my definition of being successful in any league. Unfortunately we're stuck with the little train that could but never does. Making the playoffs at the very least unfortunately is not good enough for me. We've got two cups with the Quakes in a other era of the league that seems like a lifetime ago.
Unfortunately the States loves playoffs in every sport. I've always thought it was just a way to make more money by adding extra games and creating a mini tournament after the actual season. My 40 yrs of living in the States I never liked it but it is what it is.
"After 56 years at the Oakland Coliseum it is game over for the Athletics in Oakland...they chanted Fisher sucks!, they are at war with John Fisher, John Fisher is everything that is wrong with MLB..."
People like to say that Philly “hasn’t won anything” but they won SS in 2020 I think it was. If there fans are “sick of it” they are spoiled brats. They can walk and become bandwagon fans of PSG or ManCity of ManU or pick your perennial fat cat team. “Success” is itself subjective and then it’s different for everyone on top of that. And remember MLS Cup is a crap shoot little tournament. Yes you want to have high seeding but the main thing is to get your hat in the ring to have a shot. And besides placement in the standing I want my team to win more often than not at home and play a reasonably attractive style. But winning at home - that’s a big thing. Nothing worse than walking out of the stadium bummed out game after game. This year has been brutal in that regard. We may be at or close to the record of home losses.
It is subjective! For us it would be not winning the wooden spoon, amirite! Thank you John Fisher and... ...RIP Oakland A's.
"Fans came in from all over the country to pay their respects, much like a true wake... A's fans host a wake in the 'death' of Oakland's MLB team | KTVU FOX 2
I think I need one or two more YouTube videos of blabbing podcasters and then maybe I'll figure out who's to blame for moving the A's.
We're not the only team demanding new owners either.. New York Red Bull, Philadelphia Union, Orlando City join us in the 'do we need new owners' discussion. On the other side of things, Austin FC has very rich and liberal owners, but they're also a clown show. 1840205993566769378 is not a valid tweet id
What? The outrage over the raiders moving was even greater lmao. Take it from a lifelong raiders/a’s/warriors fan
I think it was Jamon Moore, who pays some attention to what's going on around the league, who said that many if not most teams' fans complain about their owner. Few have as much to gripe about than we do, but still...it's kind of the nature of fandom.
Correct, a lot of teams around the league complain about the owners and management. Some teams more then us. (See Dallas, Philadelphia, & Orlando), Other teams right now who want a sale, Philadelphia, Red Bull and Dallas. Teams who've wanted a new owner for years New England Revolution, Colorado and Chicago Fire.
Your move next John Fisher or Jared Shawlee. https://www.facebook.com/MLBonFOX/p...-fans-after-the-teams-histor/920418759960684/
Fair, I’m sure the A’s move is under a little more scrutiny cause the quakes share the owner. First Oakland Roots game at the Coliseum is going to be cracking, I’m hoping a lot of these Oakland fans who feel rightfully slighted can turn out and support the team. If this goes well I’m hopeful they make an mls play at some point in the future. Fan owned is the future
