First one I ever recieved was Billy Joel "Piano Man". The first I ever bought was a Billy Squier tape, can't remember which one.
When I was 8 I got both a Beatles greatest hits tape and a Beach Boys greatest hits tape with my allowance at the grocery store. The next thing I can remember getting is the Beastie Boys first album.
CD soundtrack for "Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan". The fanfare for the launch of the Enterprise still puts a lump in my throat.
The first album I remember buying was Heaven Up Here, Echo + Bunnymen. First single was It Ain't what you do....FB3 & Bananarama (whew..) But that wasn't my first own-money purch. It was cassettes and they were probably greatest hits pirated copies of some sort. My first cd was I think The The; don't remember the title....
first single: mn8 - ive got a little something for you first album: on a dance tip 1993, i think man i aint been here in ages
First casette album: Revolver by the Beatles Damn, casettes freakin blow, thank goodness for CDs and records and stuff.
Yes they did blow. But before the CD Walkman there was the cassette Walkman and it was essential to have one if you had to walk a half hour to school every morning.
First albums: The Beatles, "Let It Be" Bob Seger, "Night Moves" Kiss, "Love Gun" First CD: Pink Floyd, "The Wall"
Good choice. Second golden era of British (Isles) pop - all in one room. And I still think it's a great song. Good job really, it's still played to death every Christmas. Question for everyone - as Thriller is the most popular album ever. Who here's got a copy (any format)? My Godfather bought me mine for my 7th brithday.
First 45, Theme form Rocky First LP, Billy Joel, The Stranger I think the year was '77, I was 10 years old.
Van Halen - 5150 when I was 11. First CDs - Primus-Frizzle Fry and Beastie Boys-Paul's Boutique (bought them at the same time) and I still have them...
Would that be "Brown-eyed Girl?" Vinyl: K-Tel's "22 Explosive Hit" and the Beatle's "Sgt. Pepper's Loney Hearts Club Band" CD: Eagles' "Hotel California" and the soundtrack to "Miami Vice"
