I have been looking for quite some time now for my first crew jersey( I am very indecisive) I think I have it narrowed down, but I am curious. All the authentic jerseys i have found for the Crew don't show the star above the crest, while other MLS teams that have won the cup have stars above the crest. So I guess my question is, do I need to buy a game worn jersey to get the star? Or do the authentic jerseys come with the star? I know I could probably get it embroidered on, I am just curious.
If it is an authentic, it will have the star. If it does not have the star, it's a replica or it's pre-2010 (Our first year with the star, as we had the Crewdetto during the 2009 campaign.)
Thanks. I knew that they didn't include the star until 2010, and I figured authentic jerseys would have it. I was just making sure. Repped for quick feedback.
Does everyone still have their first crew jersey? I found mine in a box at my parent's house last year. It was the white jersey that looks a lot like the current away jersey but with the stripes down the arms. Not sure what year that was.
My first jersey was a Man U away kit (white) from about 1985. I have no idea why my dad bought me that, absolutely no idea. I was never a Man U fan, and neither was my dad. I went to my first Bournemouth game the same year so makes it even more weird. so in summation: 1985 Man U away - Why?
My daughter took my first jersey and got a bunch of autographs on it and it's now hanging on her wall. So I guess technically I still have it although I think I would need to get a lawyer if I wanted to wear it again. A lawyer and a personal trainer.
Just as a heads up, if you're looking at the jerseys on MLS Gear, their authentic pictures are incorrect. The pictures in the product descriptions are actually for replicas. I sent them an e-mail about that, and they basically replied with, "We looked into it, you're right, but we're not doing anything about it."
The first jersey this johnny come lately bought was at the end of season sale in 2006, but i will never be able to wear it. Twas a game-worn Large. Not revealing player choice for sake of mockery. Suffice to say I always seem to get unpopular player jerseys The first jersey I CAN wear, I think it was the collared away black jersey, and had to buy a replica cause you dont want to see me in a 1x. not even a 2x right now, but I'll get there again.
Mine was the Glidden shirt from 2008. I need to get 'Schelotto 7' printed on it one of these days... Does the team shop still do that? How long does it take?
I have a 96 white with some fading signatures. This was the first jersey I owned. I bought its brother off ebay a couple years ago (the all-black version).
Yes they do, I haven't gotten one made this year yet. I'd usually take it in on a Monday and could pick it up the next gameday.
Yes they can do it in a hurry if they have to. I got a jersey and had Marshall 14 put on the back. As I was driving away I noticed they spelled it MASHALL. I went back and they fixed it within 15 minutes.
The first personalized jersey I ever bought was the 2007 black jersey when it still said Columbus Crew across the front and not just the club badge (pre-sponsor days). I took a risk and ordered 7 SCHELOTTO in March 2007 right before I left for Portugal. By the time I came home, my jersey was waiting for me and the club had signed the player. Worked out well.
I was going to buy a Mendoza jersey last year and wear a skunk bandana but my daughter told me my name wasn't Steve so it was a no-go.
Luckily they signed him, because from what I have understood, they will not personalize a jersey with a player's name and number who is not or has not been affiliated with the club, I.E. they are not gonna make you a Rooney 10 or a Beckham 23.
Ran into the infamous "Steve" from the Nordecke at the Kevin Smith/Jason Mewes appearance at Studio 35. He's really a good guy and his side of the story indicates that he only left because for some reason that day his ears were extra sensitive and the drums were closer and bothering him, he did not want them to have to move or anything, he was leaving for his own reasons.
