I'll defend GE on this one... I don't have the ability to reconstruct his point on this, but the last time I talked to him and asked him about this very issue, he had an answer that was fairly concise and did sound plausible. Buzz, please reinquire with GE on this. I will do a disservice to the explanation trying to reconstruct it. But it was reppable. -bs
there is one and it has to do with some of the rules on internationals... something like you have to waive an SI before you can put in for the next one and you can lose the one you have if you don't get the new one.... I will see if I can get it from him. There are reasons why no discovery too... but again it's complicated. I would suggest someone ask again at the Town Hall... Elliott can give you the exact rules and reason why on both. Rather than having me mess it up since I don't speak for them.
I can ask... try and dig out some info. In the end unless Clarke tells me or an agent contacts me there is really no other way to find out... I may have a couple source arond MLS HQ, but it's too early for them to know much... but I will keep looking.
On Mathis: 1)Would Mathis play in Utah? 2)Mathis is the anti-Chivas. 3)Chicago may have shot their allocation wad with Caballero and couple others. (but PW says they've got 3 allocations in hand) 4)Hey, we're next! Mathis would be great. Instant offense.
lot's of talk on Mathins coming back.... but does anyone have a source actually saying he is? other than talk I mean? Just wondering how strong a story it is.
FWIW I know I heard Rob Stone say that it's 'better than 50/50 chance' for both Mathis and Keller to be in MLS next year. He said it during the 1st San Jose/KC playoff game.
I second all the above. It seems allocations are a dime a dozen now a days. I think someone already said this, but the Mathis comes first from Rob Stone's comments and the fact he took all summer trying to get on a team over there and the one team that took him he can't seem to break the starting eleven.
