    A political media with any sense of decency or morality would be grilling Vance & Trump about this non-stop. Not let them talk about anything else.

    In retrospect, it was the right move not complaining about fairness. The voters don't care about that (they SHOULD, but they don't).

    “President Biden angrily denounced former President Donald Trump on Friday for continuing to traffic in false rumors about Haitian immigrants eating cats and dogs, unfounded tales that have roiled a community in Ohio and inflamed the presidential campaign,” the New York Times reports.

    Said Biden: “It’s simply wrong. There’s no place in America. This has to stop, what he’s doing. It has to stop.”

    He is talking about Karine Jean-Pierre, the press secretary who is haitian American,

    This is one of those topics Trump is more right than wrong on but won't be able to get that across to people because he is an ***hole.

    The German energy system functions, but it doesn't function well and is a great example of what industrialized nations should NOT be doing. With its Energiewende, Germany doubled down on a green future without nuclear, coal, or other fossil fuel contributions. This was especially poorly calculated for a country with limited carbon neutral renewable energy potential.

    The results have been:

    - poor energy security (the German system is especially vulnerable to shocks in foreign production and supply of energy as it is unable to cost-effectively produce at home);
    - high costs of energy (German households have the highest electricity costs in the world); these costs have put Germany's industrial strength is existential danger, which obviously has knock on effects for German citizens and the nation's long term future/health;
    - and, worst of all, a very dirty, carbon intense grid.

    That last bit is especially important, because the entire point of the very expensive (half a trillion dollar) Energiewende was decarbonization and the engagement of climate change. Had Germany achieved its carbon reduction goals, there might be a case for the higher costs and poorer energy security (not a good case, but a case nonetheless). But the Germans failed to do even this.

    Germany says they will be pushing coal off the grid by 2038, but this is already massively behind schedule. Coal was supposed to be gone by 2030. Instead, German reliance on coal actually went up after 2021. Coal is Germanys second largest source of power and few in Europe or anywhere in the developed world are more reliant on coal than the Germans. The German Grid remains among the most carbon intense grids in Western Europe.

    The article below provides a fairly balanced summary of the topic and is worth a read.

    https://www.foreignaffairsreview.com/home/029tej03jo7gd3gbot85kvgvezd2yi

    So, to sum it up, following the German model means embracing energy that is:

    - Less Reliable
    - More Expensive
    - Even Dirtier

    It is a model that absolutely has failed and should not be emulated. The comparisons here are relevant for Americans because the green energy plans that have been endorsed by Harris, Walz and many other prominent Democrats in recent years are pretty close to the German model. The model in California in particular is even more similar than these national plans (and arguably just as ineffective).

    So, again, Trump has a point here. But he's an ***hole, so people who should be listening won't be. He has lost not just this debate, but the broader debate on topics like these as well.

    Don’t believe anything RCP says. Case in point—they give Pennsylvania’s EVs to Trump, even though in their poll aggregation it’s tied there! In reality the RCP polls show a slight lead for Harris in PA when RCP aggregates them fairly, which means she has the 281 EVs, and not Trump. Probably more actually, as she likely leads slightly in North Carolina and Nevada.

    Well, there's "Rindfleischetikettierungsüberwachungsaufgabenübertragungsgesetz," but that refers to a beef labeling supervision duties delegation law. You've got beef with them, so I guess that could qualify.

    Most things you can only reheat a couple of times and then they grow stale and not as high quality as the original but Goebbels tropes never seem to go stall.

    Maybe so. But I've never had anything like a negative experience in France. Everyone's been very patient and friendly. I've also fairly often encountered people who, you know, just don't happen to speak English. For the most part, though, it's always been my understanding that the French appreciate a certain level of formality in even casual encounters. You walk into a shop, you say hello to the shopkeeper. When you leave, you say goodbye and thank you. Saying that in French is pretty damned easy and always seemed to be appreciated.
