I'd argue that the debate can't really be won by the democrat candidate where it matters - the ballot box. They can only lose it by having a Biden-like performance (although that's highly unlikely in Harris' case). Not because Trump isn't full of shit or doesn't look like shit, it is just difficult-impossible to look good or get any messages across while debating a 2-year-old.

Biden v Trump this summer had 51 million viewers. Ravens v Chiefs last week drew 30 million viewers.

If Harris v Trump draws significantly more than 51M, is that going to be attributable to Harris being the fresh face?

Yeah some. Also personally I turned off the previous one because it was too painful and I’ve heard others say the same, I don’t expect Harris’ performance will elicit that response even if it isn’t great.

Or a three year old or a four year old.

At some point they become reasonable, yes?

I guess it depends if your kids are “neuro-typical.”

We’re pretty sure our eldest has some form of ADD/ADHD, and her emotions are often in the drivers seat. The 5-yr-old is easier to reason with, but she also skates on things, like cleaning up, because she knows she can get away with it. And when she can’t wriggle out of something she would prefer not to do, she just starts crying and playing victim.

    Fun!

Genius. Evil. Our eldest now does this and elicits zero sympathy.

My son and I have had some very reasonable, enjoyable, adult-level conversations in recent months.

    He turned 26 last May.

I likely will. If only because I know a few old friends will be texting me relentlessly about it, so I might as well know what they're talking about.

So, not unlike Nebraska Football games during the last couple of Scott Frost seasons.

You're making the same mistake as Trump. Of course, he's also deliberately lying for effect and I don't imagine you'll be voting for him...

"Abort" as a verb means to stop something before it's finished. It is terminating a process, nothing more. The word was probably carefully chosen by the medical community to help the patient deal with centuries of guilt-laying about the whole issue. OTOH, misogynist right wingers want to punish the woman for having sex, so they focus on the fetus by using analogies that refer to killing.

The babies the Spartans left out for the wolves had already been born, so they weren't part of an aborted pregnancy.

I probably won't. Because I'm weak, mostly. I'll just go to bed, pretend to sleep, and then check out a few carefully selected media outlets to see how things went.

Anyway, I just don't enjoy this stuff. Politics isn't some soccer game that might be entertaining for the neutral fan. At least not for me. It's not as though I'm an undecided voter, or have only casually followed politics, the issues, or this election. Plus, I don't respond in a healthy manner emotionally or physically to watching Trump.

If I don't watch, it's certainly not because I feel all doomy and gloomy about how it's likely to go. I think Harris will do well. And I took some solace in seeing yesterday's NYT headline about Trump, questioning his mental state. If he slurs, rambles and stumbles, I get the sense that at least some media outlets are ready to actually give his physical and mental decline some attention.

So he’s recently realized that you are not as dumb as you were when he was 16.

Same here actually, I can't physically look at or listen to him. He repulses me. He is just gross morally and mentally.
I may have to take a peek from time to time though. I know my phones will be bombarded with messages from friends wanting to vent or hear my thoughts and my chat group will be on high octane.

Yeah, we, Mrs Scouse and me. Have to watch, or sit and wonder what sort of shit is going on.
6pm here, we plan on dinner in the bedroom. That’s where the big TV is.

My biggest thought now is. “Which Trump will show up!?”

The Dems will have that ad showing on Faux News, the one were born again Repugnants (Bolton) and military heads. ‘Dump on Trump!

This!: Because you’ve never watched your team losing 3 to zip at half time in a Champions league final to AC Milan. (Stomach heaves while emitting whining noises)
Then your team gets a goal ……

I will watch at least some, to see how Kamala does, but we know exactly what we'll get from Trump. Remains to be seen how much of his blathering I can stand.

I am. It can't be worse than the last one, :cautious:, and it helps me better anticipate how much I will need to do in terms of getting ready to move overseas or not (I'm meeting with a realtor today, given I just got back from NZ a few days ago).

Of course not, I would never vote for somebody who is a threat to the nation's freedom and democratic institutions. I was being sarcastic, using their their own fake definition.

Can't believe they scheduled it at same time as C'BOL World Cup qualifiers!

So yeah, will probably miss it unless the games are as bad as last Friday.

Always like your posts. (Most :))Guess I’m jealous of your pacific travels. My kids are Kiwis with Dads ties to the islands.
Then I wanted to go to France 10/15 years ago to live. Mrs scouse was nervous and we left it too late.
