A friend wrote this... Harris had to introduce herself to the electorate and look like she was a president. She did. She needed to get a viral sound bite or two. She did. And as a bonus TDFP came apart. I don’t think this could’ve gone much better for Harris.
So I'm guessing Trump was making Lionel Hutz look like a better option? Letting Trump speak is good because he comes across as unhinged. Whenever he speaks, he reminds people that might not pay attention to politics that whoa, this guy is unhinged. I mean, remember his Covid speeches? I mentioned it before, but in 2018, 19, I was at work watching him give a news conference. He got that angry sniffy tone, a colleague and I, a colleague I had only spoken with once, just looked at each other in disbelief.
How should she not concede and not look angry or irritated or bitter? By letting him interrupt and rant, she looked under control and Presidential.
"They're eating the dogs and they're eating the cats!" Reply with "Donald, I'm concerned. Sounds like RFK Jr's brain-eating worm is contagious. There is nobody, anywhere who's . . ."
I think she was outstanding. Calm, adult, forward looking, positive. The contrast with Trump made her look even better. She reached out to the middle and I think some undecideds will like what they saw. Her team prepared her well, can't think of one question where she was uncomfortable. Even the weaknesses like economy and immigration she had solid answers for.
IOW what most presidential candidates are expected to do. He's such a freak and she didn't let it get to her. Moderators being praised on MSNBC
BTW - doesn’t his J6 line about he had nothing to do with it kinda box him in on the immunity defense? Chris Hayes just made a great point. She responded. Made a point…then baited the hook. Every time. And every time…he went for the bait. So true.
I am willing my bottom dollar that has zero chance to happen.....lol Moments after the presidential debate ended tonight, the Harris campaign called for a second debate, CNN reports.
As far as a second debate goes…Harris just took the free chip the casino gave her, and bet it on 36, which then came up. Should she take her winnings and call it a night, or go double or nothing? She clearly won the night. She has the upper hand now.
She crushed it. I won’t be surprised if she sees a little polling bump but it won’t be much, there aren’t that many votes in play.
GOP types don't' think he did well. There's a GOP strategist and Trump transition team member, Bryan Lanza, on the BBC going on about it being "a wash", with "no real knockout blow" repeatedly. Others are freaking out
Grades Harris - A- - She did a good job once she got her feet...after the first minute or two. She was clear, she was firm, and she did a good job reminding the voters she is looking out for the people. And making a point that she has support from both sides of the aisle. She could have done a bit better on remind people of Trumps legal issues, and history of financial problems (Trump Media has now much in revenue? ). But overall, I think she did a very good job of explaining herself and contrasting herself with Trump (I really liked her ACA answer). She also did a good job dodging the race question. Trump - F- - It took Harris about 2 or 3 minutes to get under his skin, and once that happened, he was off the rails. He ranted and ranted and interrupted for the last word (as opposed to demanding the last word) despite the rules that were explained before hand (and which were largely administered during the first debate). His hyperbole was also a vast contrast to Harris and really seemed crazy in comparison. People who like a bully would like him, but they are already voting for him. This is not 2016, this is 2024, and he looked like an old, crazy man on the edge of his porch ranting about the immigrants who are cutting his lawn. ABC - D - Had good questions, though the race question was not really appropriate. But when they kept letting Trump rant with the last word - and then cut Harris off that one time - they lost a lot of credibility.
Taylor Swift may have just endorsed Kamala (the Bulwark people were reading a tweet from her supporting Kamala)
indsey Graham @LindseyGrahamSC · 1h The moderators might as well be on the DNC payroll. This is ridiculous. This is the worst moderated debate in history.
I only heard about 10 minutes of the last one and it was utter dejection compared with now, utter elation. she looked and sounded presidential. if the election was tomorrow I think she’d win.
She is just baiting him.....as she did all night. H his in a lose lose situation, if he says no, he is chickecking out....if he says yes, he will run the risk of being humiliated again.

I shared on a different thread that I’ve been getting texts from the Trump campaign. Well this is how they’re playing the post-debate. I guess there’s nowhere else to go but diving further into the unreality of the base.
I agree on the candidates but thought ABC was good. They raised a number of issues I didn’t expect and corrected his lies several times.
