Serious case can be made for him being the best player in the league since he's arrived. Took to the Prem like a duck to water.
He is a top Player you guys did the right thing in signing him. He was smart and didn’t leave Portugal too early.
The more we succeed with him, the more I FCC et upset we didnt buy last offseason. Imagine how we could have been top 2.
He has settled in nicely, everything comes so naturally to him. Already 6 goals and 5 assists in league and 13 GA overall in just 14 app he could finish season with 20 GA.
Love this guy; - energised and elevated those around him - fills a very obvious need of linking our midfield to our attack - streets ahead of the clearly insufficient AP & Lins - vocal player with a huge desire (ie the attributes SAF would look for in a “Man Utd” player) - finally someone who can hit flat corners (shows how poor we were off with skilled players that we had to suffer in this regard for so many years) - signed 6 months late
Bruno wins the Prem Player of the Month award back to back. First United player since CRon to have done so.
Another award for Bru. His 2nd goal vs Brighton wins him the Prem Goal of the Month. Just need some team winning medals now to go alongside his individual awards on his shelf.
Brunos PS% in united shirt is still around 74%, it was a concern to many posters here IIRC and many thought this might be the reason Spurs or United didnt sign him in summer but he has turned our fortunes alongwith Mase and Pogs has a settled role in first 11. I never thought he could emulate even half of his Sporting GA stats in united shirt but he has contributed 13 in 10 PL matches.
Struck me recently that Bruno has also filled a void we have had since Herrera left, not in terms of position obviously, but in relation to some of the more unique qualities Ander brought such as; - getting the club ethos - understanding the fans - having that winners mentality - most importantly vocalising and reminding other players of these factors Like Herrera, whether official captain or not, it is great to have someone vocal in Bruno out there on the pitch who feels like ‘one of us’ if you catch my drift
This is an excellent shout. He also has that crazy "I'll close down this entire back line by myself" type energy/insanity that Ander has as well. He was absolutely a culture fit at the club. In many ways, he's also a Giggs replacement/upgrade. Not LOTW Giggs, AM Giggs... in that Bruno is also looking for danger. Some players always look forward but forward isn't always the most dangerous pass. He's always trying to create a scoring opportunity and he's also got that cheekyness about him too. That's not at all what he was saying, he was talking about intangibles.
Really a shame that the club and Herrera were not able to come to an agreement. Very likely that Bruno and him would have gotten along great both on and off the pitch. And just as important and eventhough our midfield depth is as good as it's been in quite some time, he would have been a viable option for us as the 6 spot (even if it was to back Matic up). More naturally than McTominay or Fred, he could do a job there, when required. It's all the more disappointing when guys like Mata and recently Matic have been signed to long term extensions themselves. Signed on a 2yr deal (plus club option for another), looking at the squad now, it would have given us some real wriggle room in terms of rounding out the midfield and assurances in terms of depth (especially at DCM). As things stands, there are still too many questions for my liking in that particular position, especially if we stand pat ahead of next season.
How would you rate Bruno’s impact on united turning around their season and securing a champions league spot ?
It speaks for itself really, no question about that. We don't get him in January, we don't finish 3rd, let alone make the top in all likelihood. Been said time and again (and it's something some of us called a year ago) but he's really had a transformative effect on our attack and team as a whole.
Portugese fellows were very harsh on ronaldo early in his career and IIRC some of them wanted Simao in starting 11 (he was bit more direct) so they are bit toxic like madrid fan base (just my impression). Bruno despite struggling with fatigue (lately) has been immense for us and 100% agree what Ashur said.
