With Dallas close to getting there stadium, Metrostars closeing in on a stadium (I know 60 to 90 days), and D.C. possible stadium. Do you think we should start looking to build in the burds because it's been what 3 years tring to find land in the City of Chicago and nothing happening. I think if we could find land in the burbs and there willing to have us we should build the FIREHOUSE in the burbs. It's not like LA, Columbus, Dallas, Metrostars and DC are building in there City's so if we can't get land in the city of Chicago we should go to the burbs. I'm sure Naperville, Aurora, St. Charles or whoever would be a good place for the furture FIREHOUSE.
I think they'll wait out the season to get a feel for how the 'burbs worked out overall. I'm not sure they're all that excited about them, considering their apparent excitement about returning to Soldier Field by the end of the season. GOOSE ISLAND. I say buy a plot on Goose Island. Not much public, but it would be a very unique experience. Our own island AND brewery! ROOSEVELT/CLARK DEVELOPMENT. They own a big spot just south of Roosevelt between the river & Clark St. Help extend the museum campus/Grant Park farther west. The South Side is booming. Pilsen is going to be gentrified before you know it. UNITED CENTER PARKING LOT. There used to be some concern about the neighborhood, but that shouldn't be an issue. The West Loop is all but done being revitalized. There's almost no undeveloped land between downtown and the UC. The proposed 'outer loop' extention to the 'el system is just going to make that area explode even more. Looking back at my fantasy list here, any and all could easily become a Wrigley-like neighborhood in due time. As for the 'burbs, again, I don't think the team is so enthusiastic about it. I think the new deal is 'good enough' that a move to the 'burbs wouldn't offer enough up front to make it worthwhile. That's just my opinion though.
Matt, do we really need another firehouse thread? Couldn't you just find a slightly older one and add to the end of it?
