You said "EVERYTHING" in your post. We didn't win everything in 2009. Only the SS. No MLS Cup. Whereas in 2008, we won both.

 

As I recall, Guille earned a DP-esque salary in '08, but his salary cap hit was bought down to below DP levels because the team had a bunch of allocation money (or some similar kind of MLS legal currency) on hand.

 

Don't you miss the days when we could blame it on so many injuries, a player's death or not being responsible?

I agree wholeheartedly with this statement, but my fear/experience has been that outside of Sigi, we have been frugal with players and coach selection. Granted since DPs were introduced, props to HSG for loosening the purse enough to bring in Guille and Higuain, but one great player on a squad is not enough, especially with a poor leader at the helm.

I always hate when people do this but it's something I noticed this morning. If we were a Western Conference team we would be tied for 7th/8th and a point from 9th.

 

Yeah with unbalanced schedules it's hard to decide how to compare the league as a whole; once we get above eight to ten I tend to look at points per game more than just points.
