    4-2 Loss.
    Goals by Ralph, Razov.
Another dumb PK given up by Whitfield.

We seem to have two great games followed by one awful loss.

    4-0 Colorado
    4-1 at San Jose

    0-2 at DC United

    3-2 at MetroStars
    4-1 Dallas

    2-4 at Kansas City

Well, it's the Metros again next game, so hopefully we do have a good game again. At least Razov and Ralph are still scoring, it's just a shame we let a lead disappear before the half.

I don't understand what happened to our defense. CJ and Curtin are still there, and I never thought Whitfield was this bad, though I've had my doubts about Perez. Is it the lack of the Armas protection, then? Or is Preki just that hot this season--was he trying to take over from Razov on the scoring board? Well, with a 5-point game, he has...

5-3-3 ain't all that bad, but I really don't like 16 goals against.

What was Thornton's yellow for? (I know, dissent, but what was he complaining about?)

That was a sweet move by Ralph, when he chipped the ball over the defender in the 90th minute.

Thorton thought he was fouled on the first goal. CJ and some KC guy got into a scuffle and it threw Thorton off his feet. I didn't see any contact.

Someone had a little tug on Thornton's shirt, but I can't see anyone much smaller than an elephant pulling him off balance...

    Midwest, the real one.
From my unbiased perspective, Igor positioned himself direct in front of Thornton before the corner, hands at his side. Thornton decided to move Igor from his spot. CJ Brown also decided to move Igor, only in the opposite direction that Thornton was trying to move him. While all this was happening a ball flew by all three of them.

Jack: "If that man (Preki) isn't player of the week, then I'd like to see the scoresheet of the guy who is player of the week!"

Ummm, Jack, how about Ante Razov????

Preki had a goal and three assists, sure, but Ante's 3 goals and 3 assists in two games is more impressive.

If this continues to be true, DC will be our awful loss yet again on July 12th.

Uh, we were missing 3 starting defenders/ d-mids (Guti, Talley, Burciaga)

Biased popint of view with no benefit of TV angles/replay: The free kick that led to Razov's goal was BS and shouldn't have been whistled.

Jack Edwards picks a boyfriend on the opposing team in every game he announces. Tonight, he chose Preki. Jack Edwards is a bottom.

If we mentioned Preki one more time I was gonna kill someone. I also loved how he kept on saying "Preki's got 5 points tonight" Like anyone cares about points.

No Armas, No Boca, KCs got some good offensive players, 3rd game in a week, I wouldnt look too much into it.

it sucks to say it, - but without boca our backline has been very shoddy.

    -okay that was easy

also, i have been very dissapointed with CJ's play this season.

    -hmm, that was easy too

but what i really hate to say is whitfield's slump is troubling.

-obvious? yeah...but this guy used to be a solid backup or sub, very obviously his last 2 games have clearly showed his lack of defensive prowess.

what happened to this guy? someone mentioned trading him...i think that's a little premature, he's got skills, or had skill up until very recently. this nonconsistent play on his part i just hope is slump.

note: preki can kiss my ass. When is he gonna be a legacy already?!?

sigh...........in all honesty i hate to say he's class, if he would just score/assist vs some other team i wouldn't feel so bad.

Chill guy, I was referring to the Fire's soft defense. And, it was quite pathetic last night. Perez needs to sit on the bench next to Henry Ring. Something needs to be done about Whitfield. He's way ahead of Razov in bonehead plays of the year, and that's hard to do. I think it's clear now how good Boca is. I'm also not too thrilled about CJ right now. I dread corners against the Fire. They seem not to defend him.

Evan's not a strong offensive player and now he's playing poor defense and giving up PK's. He's the first player to sit when Boca, Armas, and DMB come back.

Pretty poor game from Perez last night too, especially his positioning. Can't believe he let Simutenkov get behind him on that long diagonal ball, TWICE in a row. Fire's lucky it was 4-2, should have been worse.

I need to maybe watch the tape of this again, but after a great first 15 minutes, we stopped pushing up the left side through Justin Mapp. I don't know if they adjusted defensively, or what.

I think maybe the first two goals against would have been helped by Chris Armas as much as by Bocanegra. Regardless of what Simutenkov may or may not have been doing, somebody should have been covering Conrad. And Bonseu on Wednesday (miss). And Magee last week (miss). Chris and 'Los organize the defense, so they'd be more likely to be shouting for coverage. The second goal, it looked like Perez and Curtin had assignments, so it's probably Kelly Gray who wasn't picking up Zotinca coming into the box, but I'm not sure. The Gomez goal looked more like good offense than bad defense. And giving up a penalty is giving up a penalty, with all the negative connotations.

I like that Sarachan realized that Andy Williams had disappeared, I only wish he had done it sooner, because when we pulled out the stops at the end, we looked dangerous again. We know Williams can be streaky, and doesn't seem to be the sort to play himself back into an individual game, so pulling him early when he's ineffective has got to be the way to go.

I loved Nate Jaqua infiltrating the defensive wall and then ducking. Razov put it right where his head was.

So we suck every third night. I used this joke elsewhere in slightly different form, but I guess this makes us the Grateful Dead?

KC is a good club, and we're still in second, so I continue to not be worried. Except a little about the defense.

I guess the positive is that defense can be improved by a season's-worth of playing together, and we don't seem to have much trouble scoring goals. Not to mention we'll get our missing players back in a week or so. The league seems awfully balenced this year, though, with DC and Metros looking more solid than last season.

Okay, I got the Zotinca and Gomez goals backwards. And in the insightful quotes department, Mr. Kelly Gray: "They got the fourth one and that was a killer for us. Had they not gotten that one I think it would have been a much closer game."

Thornton made a lot of saves. He already has 10 around 75th minute.
