Just wanted to share really the only important bit of my upcoming Fire recap: The Fire really do lend themselves to existential philosophy. Why can't we be a normal team and win instead of me having to research Baudrillard every month or so?
The replay is finally active. At $6 a month there isn’t a lot to complain about with ESPN+ but it’s like 80% great and 20% annoying. Again, $6 so hard to really complain. Anyway, 57th minute the Fire play a nice stretch of soccer. About 10+ passes to beat the Red Bull pressure. Giminez ********s it up in the end, only to be saved by Calvo, but this stretch stood out as an example of how they want to play. There are many other examples with far fewer passes throughout the game but this one stood out. I’m trying to not be down on the team just yet. We will see where it leads. I fear it will take three quarters of a season for the players to gel around this style and we’ll get it right and make a playoff push, just too late to make the playoffs.
I agree and I'll say this after a small sample size: it's slightly less infuriating watching the team get outplayed so far this year.
Wait- you’re able to watch the replays on ESPN+? I was banking on being able to but whenever I try on Apple TV I get hit with a “subscribe to ESPN+!” screen despite the fact that I am indeed a subscriber. I can other games on demand, have tried logging out and back in, etc. but no dice. On my iPad I get an explicit “Blacked Out” notice over the preview tile for the game, and clicking on it just spins. I think ESPN+ is great considering the cost and what I paid for MLS Live or whatever they used to call it but I’m gonna be pissed if I find out everyone in Chicago but me can watch replays on it.
I had the same issue. I’m guessing there’s a 48 hour local blackout or something like that. But yes, you can watch replays. Go watch from minute 57 and let me know what you think of the play!
I literally can’t. Even when I go back to the first game of the season, I get hit with a blackout notice, just double-checked right now.
