I'm not sure if Herbers having a quiet game so far is a good thing or a bad thing. I'm leaning toward bad thing right now. Good news is that he doesn't have a yellow, yet.
So, when playing with two forwards from the beginning of the match can yield good results?!? Who would have thought.
Its bunker time with Navarro and Dean on. 5 in the back and all 11 Fire players pinned deep in their own end.
I don't expect the Fire to look like 2010 Barclelona but it'd sure be nice to see them string together 2-3 maybe 4 passes.
The Fire win 2-1. I got the score correct, but missed on selecting Barlow (?!?) and Koutsias as the goal scorers. Good night all!
We did it! Given what he had to work with, probably one of Frank’s best games this tenure, despite us coming out flat after the half. Of course it is just enough to give us a little more hope before the rug gets pulled from under us but I’m always happy to see a win.
I am NOT trying to defend Frank on that choice but Jalil Anibaba seemed very happy with Tom Barlow and his pressing last night on the broadcast. Perhaps it was partly Koutsias travel but also to press...or...because there isn't anyone else to choose?
It was a very Frank choice. If I remember correctly, Tom “The Banana Man” Barlow played a strong second half against DC. Frank seems to like to reward things like that. I’m not saying Cuypers will sit and Koutsias and Barlow will start next game but if they do…
It was. After we scored the first goal, a friend turned to me and said “Now we just have to not concede in the next five minutes like we always do.” So the goal conceding brain fart was pushed ~15 minutes to halftime. Maybe that’s an improvement.
