Acosta is good for a professional foul just about every game. I was surprised that he and Pineda actually finished the match. They both could have gotten a second yellow. Don't really think I need to see either Acosta or Gimenez anymore. Despite the possibilities going forward, together they are a liability on defense and hang out the CBs to dry. I hope that Rafa's injury is not too serious and Salquist is actually ready to come back. At this rate we may have Souquet and Arigoni or Gimenez at CB in the near future. Please, Frank, bring back the 3-5-2 and get MHS up top with Cuypers. If MHS has to play on the wing, then get either Mueller or Koutsias to pair up with Cuypers.
With all due respect, what Acosta actually do? 0/9 on total duels in midfield is a disgrace. #cf97 pic.twitter.com/kndcnV9qNz— Boo Buie SZN #cf97 #BedardSZN (@BooBuieSZN) July 14, 2024
its too bad that it took a potential move for Gaston to wake up and play well but his skill is way above Acosta seems to be a motivation problem though and I hope he moves on we desperately need a good player in the center of the field though
Pretty sure it does not work. 5 should be average MLS performance. Not many players were MLS average last night. Small ratings spread between best and worst player another problem. Or should all players should be given a participation medal and orange slices and a rating of 7.
Was it "real" lawn darts (Jarts!) With the metal spikes, or the pathetic new "poof" version? We used to have a block party over the 4th of July every year growing up and Jarts were being played. One year, a neighbor walked through the game and was impaled with a Jart. He was carted off to the hospital. Another year, I tripped on a sleeping bag and sliced up my forehead on a fan grate. I ended up in the emergency room. An even earlier time (maybe I was 4 or 5), i hit my head on a car bumper and SHOULD have ended up in the hospital. There was so much blood as I thought it would be a good idea to wipe my blood soaked hands on the shutters of the neighbor's house (where I hit my head). Another year, we all had to run and hide (including my father), when the police raided the party for lighting fireworks in the street. We hid in the greenhouse attached to my house. It just occurred to me how f*cking dangerous those picnics were.
Grades in school have long been ‘inflated’ and bias us towards this…a C is now Despite critique/view of the metric, when everyone is rated via the same stats the results provide direct comparison between the players. Acosta being the lowest in this game ‘checks out’…again
I am not saying stats and player ratings are completely worthless, just that they are not determinative and have weaknesses. Extremely difficult task for statisticians. Two CBs could complete 258 consecutive passes between themselves in a match and generate some “splenderific” stats but accomplish nothing.
Isn't it hilarious how folks that work hard to not get it will point directly at the thing that doesn't say what they think it does?
I’ve always thought player ratings were kinda dumb because it was always just some blogger giving their opinion that was probably massively skewed by a great or terrible play. I appreciate trying to standardize them in some way but I don’t think they’re “there” yet.
There’s always room for improvement…and there is always going to be nuance that is not represented. Gotta start somewhere and I’d argue it is better than nothing measured.
I would love for Barlow to make me eat the dancing banana meme but once a guy gets saddled with that it's just...not...good. Torres and whomever it was before that?
