As @Pennsylvania Dave stated this morning:
    It's GAME DAY weary travelers!

I am one zogdamned weary traveler today!
Short pregame today, as I just checked into my room in Halifax, Nova Scotia.
I drove to Chicago last night, arrived at 9:00 to drop of the dog, I went at a party at a friend (drank more than I should), got to my friend's at 1:00 a.m., was up at 4:00 to head to O'Hare for a 7:00 am flight to New York. Change planes to Halifax. Rental car and drive in.

It's been exhausting, but that is why Zog invented 5 hour energy (or the Aldi and Dollar Tree equivalents).

    On to the game.

Okay, the Fire suck, as we all know. We suck bad, very bad.
13th in the East (hey, at least we aren't last, anymore!), at 21 points, we have one more point than DC United. Even New England has passed us.

New York City (f/k/a NYCFC) sit 5th in the East with 35 points.

Our defense is still largely injured and Shaqiri is still out "on international duty" (I assume he's in Ibiza or somewhere, after his exhausting game and a tiny bit performance at the Euros).

NYC are without Maxi Morales and a bunch of other players nobody has heard of anyway.

    What happens?

Fire 4-2, our defense is responsible for three of those goals.
Cuypers gets back on the scoring track as well.

It would feel awesome to win this game, but I don't see it happening.

About the only good feeling I have is that for some strange reason I feel like today might be the day that Meuller finally gets his goal.

Country music night at Soldier Field, woo-hoo! That must explain why, even though I have been getting emails from the team all week to “secure your parking ahead of the match”, there has been no parking available since Tuesday (good thing we have an awesome team President to prevent embarrassing emails like that from going out!)(althouh I’m sure he didn’t hire whichever poor intern it was that neglated to update the template they use week of the game)(thankfully I was able to secure a pass via Reddit) - sellout crowd for sure!

Ugh. About the only reason I have to go to the games is to spend time with the kiddo, otherwise I’d be on the couch sucking down Hazy Pitches like I was Revolution Brewing’s designated player.

I extra dislike NYCFC this week, as my favorite club, Palermo, released their 2024 jerseys at the Man City store in New York earlier this week thanks to the shared ownership of the three clubs. I can at least take solace in the fact that while I can’t get the jersey here in Chicago, we don’t have a Man City anywhere in our city limits.

We probably lose bad tonight, right? I’m hoping Hugo scores, at least. My prediction is 5-1 us because really, ******** NYCFC and the blood money that funds them (but not the same money that funds my beloved Palermo - hypocrisy be damned). Something stupid goes here.

If we can just beat NYCFC five times tonight we’ll leapfrog them in the standings.

I want the Fire to win. I voted for "Loss" to do my part.

I’m calling it now, Barlow better not be subbed on unless the Fire are up by 5 goals.

Canada-Uruguay is a literal track meet right now.

I agree with Dasan that MHS should be up top instead of Guti. I don’t mind them defending in a 4-4-2, but they have to find a way to get either Souquet or Arigoni upfield.

I have to watch on my laptop. The hotel TV has a Chromecast, but it is not really working.

My better half is out. After the day we have had, it is understandable.

Guess we are not going out clubbing!

Good attempt, but Cuypers needs to put that on frame.

21:30 GG really nice holding skill/pivot
    27min FK GACK…Acosta or MHS?
    3220 Guti creating
40 Mueller slow behind the play
43? Mueller almost picked out Hugo with a cross…too hot/high, but a great look

    Is Guti taller/growing physically??

Going to agree with Brian McBride, Omsberg has been really solid the last few games since Teran went down. No complaints.

Pineda in for Omsberg who has a leg issue.

Of course, the Fire should put in another attacking, but I guess that would be Koutsias and nobody else.

Who subs in for Acosta and Gimenez? Acosta is close to getting a red and Gimenez hasn’t done anything either.

Herbers time... Was that Acosta's 5th yellow? Does that mean he's got to sit the next one?

I WISH Frank would give Koutsias the nod over Barlow but for some reason????

Fire at one point had 90% possession yet still the shots are equal and the chances are equal. How is that possible?

EDIT: dropped to 83% in the 65th minute.
