Lol how exactly am I a "conspiracy theorist"? Do you know what that term means?

At least you finally listed a name. Kellyn Acosta. Obviously Acosta should get in over Tyler Adams if Adams is injured and hasn't played in 6 months. That's how national team call ups work, they don't call in players who are out with long term injuries to then play them. But if Adams was back healthy and actually playing, would you call in Acosta over Adams? That would be a ridiculous decision. Not even going to bother explaining why... Even if Adams is out, that leaves Cardoso, Tessmann and maybe A Morris as DMs who are ahead of Acosta or at minimum close to the same level. Anyone with two brain cells would prefer Cardoso. As for the other two, well when you're looking at the 3rd or 4th spot in the DM depth chart, you start to consider things like upside and age, and those other guys are like a decade younger than Acosta. But if it was a "win now" thing yeah you might take Acosta. Not sure how any of that is a "conspiracy"... yeah Acosta is in the bigger pool of potential call ups but he's certainly not being SNUBBED. If you think so, you might be the conspiracy theorist!

Sorry, when I said conspiracy theorist, what I meant was self-absorbed, condescending shit. I hope I've cleared that up.

Well then you should have said so. I'm not a "conspiracy theorist", as you called me. But I can certainly be "condescending" to those who deserve it. "Self-absorbed" doesn't really make sense because my comments were literally 100% about a bunch of soccer players who are NOT ME. But at least you're finally starting to learn what some words actually mean... keep it up!

Well, it's been about a week already and I haven't heard squat from him. So he can go stick his empanadas where the sun don't shine.

My life on here got considerably better once I began to make liberal use of the "ignore" button. It violates my credo to a degree, but the signal-to-noise ratio has improved dramatically...

I do not mind being with an interim head coach for 1-2 FIFA days as long as the federation gets it right this time. Mauricio Pochettino is absolutely an upgrade in comparison to Gregg.

Will Poch have to live in Chicago and hang around Soccer House? Even in winter?

    1. No that was only for Gregg
    2. Reports that Poch will live in Europe, which is where 95% of the USMNT A team play for clubs
    3. US Soccer is moving from Chicago to the Atlanta area in any case, that's where they're currently building a national training center and headquarters (RIP Soccer House)

Just in time to beat the announcement...

"USSF decided to cave to the bullies on Twitter and make a reactionary decision to hire an overrated Argentine who will treat this as a 20 month vacation while he calls the shots a whole ocean away from the country he's been hired to represent."

    Bwahahahaha!!

I do predict that if things go South, the "he doesn't live in the US and doesn't see the players here. Doesn't understand American soccer culture, blah, blah, blah" mantra will appear.

Will a domestic player like Luna or Bassett be less likely to be called up than under Berhalter? To be determined. Maybe.

But all that doesn't matter to me. What we really need is for Pochettino to take the existing USMNT pool and put them in a better position to succeed over the next 2 years than his predecessor. Most of the elite pool isn't going anywhere. They're in Europe. Need to help in key positions as we've discussed ad naseum. What Pochettino decides to do with those positions will be interesting.

That will be interesting but at the same time many don't want Reyna called in because of minutes others are calling for Luna to be called in (funny too that neither is there). They are about the same age. So would Luna be getting more minutes if he was at Dortmund or that doesn't matter? Should players just stay in MLS so they always get lots of minutes? It's kind of the Ferreira / Pepi argument for the WC. I'd bring 'em both in a see in person but I have a pretty good idea but I'm never locked in.

We finally got a genuine "fire Poch" guy and no one cares because he's pro Gregg lost causer and doesn't fit the "let's watch the people who criticized US Soccer for hiring Gregg turn on Poch" narrative that everyone was hoping for... betrayed by one of their own, sad!

What has he done for us lately? Seems to be of no use to me. Agree he’s gotta go! (First to call for his head now that he’s actually the coach)

Now that he’s signed is when they let him know about the MLS quota right?

So, what has been reported/gossiped today in the press:

He'll be paid $6 million per year.

Emma Hayes (who coached the Chelsea women in the same time frame that he was there) acted as a sort of reference to vouch for our fed to him.

Jürgen Klopp was indeed Crocker's dream hire (as well as many of ours, mine included). Other candidates that were discussed reportedly include Zinedine Zidane, Thomas Tuchel, Graham Potter, Pellegrino Matarazzo, Patrick Vieira, Thierry Henry, Xavi, Marcelo Gallardo, and Rafa Benitez.

And Eric Wynalda still says that Matt Crocker was hired to do absolutely nothing. **The last part I made up.**

Who will prepare original list of players worth of looking at for Pochettino? I'd guess players 15-50 are pretty close, and he definitely would rank them in different order than previous coaches. How would he even know about let's say Luna, Bassett, Jones, Gutierrez?

I assuming he and his staff are going to watch a lot of film. Starting with the Copa and Olympics probably but they’ll regularly scout MLS as well.
