In all seriousness, he looked like the best player on the field for either team after being subbed in. Every time I see him play for Guatemala, he always looks so effective. As soon as the foul that lead to the late free kick was called, I was pretty sure he'd put it in the net.

    RE: Grazzini extension

i've said elsewhere, I wouldn't be surprised to see him sacrifised in order to get Rolfe on the pitch.

It'll be Rolfe and Oduro/Barouch up top with a midfield four of Pappa-Pardo-Pause-Nyarko. Robayo/Alex, if he turns out to be any good, will likely take the place of Pardo or Pause in games where we can be more attacking

So where is the attack going to come from with both Pardo and Pause in there and no CAM?

We are averaging just over 1 goal game with two defensive midfielders and Grazzini in there.

So we're going to play with two defensive midfielders and no CAM. Great how's that going help us score goals?

Oh wait will play for 1-0 results in every game, come on.......7 defensive players and 4 offensive players.

Its only 6/4 without the dishonest counting of the keeper, the attack will come through the wings. I already said it could be more attacking by putting a Robayo or Alex in the middle.

Even without it, Pardo, when he plays well, does a good job of starting attacks out of the back. Pause has also been getting better at going forward under Klopas. And the fact is, with a CB pairing of Anibaba/Berry, we need defensive cover in the midfield.

I'll be honest though, I am a new enough fan to not have seen Rolfe play the first time around, so I don't know his style. And this formation (with two d-mids) requires a striker who is able to drop deep and pick up the ball from a Pardo type deep distributor.

As a Tottenham fan, I have seen the formation work well with Sandro and Parker (both d-mids) in the middle with play going through Lennon and Bale out wide. Van der Vaart or Defoe were both willing to drop back to get the ball in the middle when needed, if the flanks weren't working. It wasn;'t as pretty as when Modric was healthy and in, but games against teams with more attacking ability, its essential to cover for worse than average CBs (which Spurs and Fire both have in spades, although for different reasons. Fire's are just inexperienced. Spurs' are expired)

Good luck with that, if that's who FK puts out there as our starting 11 we will be lucky to win 4 or 5 more games rest of the season.

Chris Rolfe 1.0 was my favorite player but he was played out wide right most of the time. Most wanted him as an out and out striker, but that does not play to his strengths. What you suggest does. He naturally drops a little deeper and can hit beautiful balls from the top of the box or a little deeper. He also can take people on the dribble from deep. I always thought the best use for him would be very similar to Nowak in the early years of the club. So, with Freidrich and Berry in the center back and Pause Pardo holding down the midfield in front of them, I do think that Pappa Nyarko could do some real damage with Rolfe withdrawn behind Oduro. Grazzini has been ineffective as an attacking midfielder. There is the occasional brilliance, but he isn't putting in the work needed throughout a game.

That's exactly the type of forward Rolfe is.
