i would take "trying to be good and sucking" over "not giving a rat's ass and sucking" any time. at least at the end of the day, you can say, "well, at least they tried." a-haup and n-rod seem to want to do the exact opposite of showing they are trying.
Maybe Bunge's Masterplan is the new iteration of Chicago MLS and the Bridgeview Fire will be as an evolutionary offshoot which fell short. Like Neanderthals, or Denisovan Man. This one would be called Andyhaupt Man.
Hopefully this train wreck folds. You can use Toyota Park as a cock fighting arena and or a sad clown rodeo. (Paging Hauptman, Andrew)
Exactly. Nery Castillo was a train wreck, but you could see the cost vs. upside that was there and I think most of us would have agreed at the time it was worth the risk. They tried and failed. What can I point to this season? What did they try and fail on? Nothing. All the resources in the world (lol) and none of it was spent on anything. What a joke of an organization.
Soon to be breaking #cf97 news from a solid source. Nice buyout for Village of Bridgeview, 2/3 of bond debt is being bought out. it is apparently a done deal. pic.twitter.com/rFP4UTVmFs— J. Vlahakis (@jvlaha) April 2, 2019
Why do I get the feeling that Dick Wolf already has a Chicago City Football Club show in the works waiting to sabotage the team's new branding the minute they make an announcement? Anyway, I mean, 'meh'. It'll suck to see the Fire name die, suck to only have one MLS team while shittier cities get two, especially considering our closest rivals are in godamn Ohio, and I'm sure some other stuff will suck, too - but this is all probably for the best in the end, if true.
So this was the plan. The move to Lincoln Park with Lincoln Yards was curtailed, not that it couldn’t be revived. Turns out Joe funded the whole buyout of Toyota Park. As for the USL block, well, we never had to see that threat for a variety of reasons. But I have always done my best to bring to you all what I know. Cheers.
curious how seatgeek is gonna handle being a concert only venue when they’re so bad at 7k coming for a soccer game
Primarily a concert venue was the plan at the time. That may still actually be where they make their money to this day. Red Stars aren’t doing it.
I have not been so don't know how many spectators they draw but I'd like to go check it out some time. I'm definitely a rubgy watcher only not with the same rabid fascination as the World Football. https://www.chicagohounds.com/
I considered season tickets for the Hounds this year, but the weather was not good early in the season so my first trip to Seat Geek will probably be the MLR Championship game on July 8th. Now that Messi is In Miami, I’m not sure I want to get Fire season tickets since the prices will likely go up next season even though the team is still not good.
They were willing before the billionaire was found. Joe apparently didn’t want the help. EDIT: “The plan” began before the Real Madrid All-Star game in 2017. That was a hook designed to ignight interested in the Chicagoland market. Obviously it worked. The further away from 2017 we get the details keep changing but Michael Reese and Lincoln Yards were in play 5+ years ago. It was just pleasant to see it public today so we can talk freely.
I agree Chris M Hey Fire Go Fire Fan 2001 Wolvesfirehope Bertha Berwyn GHjelm (the last two pop in on occasion) All in same 2 page thread?
Your prognosticating post is aging VERY well. We don't usually have groundhogs around here, only prognosticating Raccoons.
