I think the star thing in MLS is due to a problem of
    A) too many higher ups thinking short term
    B) pressure from supporters and teams to have some recognition of their work
    C) the fact that DCU set a dangerous precident

Hopefully cooler heads will prevail over time as MLS hangs in there for years to come and more traditions begin to take a long-term approach

Too true. Unfortunately, in order for any of these ideas to be implemented, DC must be willing to remove stars. Something I doubt they will want to do until they qualify to get one under the new system.

This is more likely. Gonna be a long wait.

Who says we have to use the same recognition system DC does? Or anyone for that matter?

If we did a star for every 5 or 10 championships, we'd know what the deal was.

Well if that's the case, then why don't we just give ourselves a star for no reason? MLS is in charge of ultimately deciding what goes on the uniform and I think it should be, well, uniform through the league.

I'm pretty sure it's up to the individual team and not the league.

Otherwise, we'd have the star already.

I think it's an option, but one the Fire is not mandated to do and has chosen not to persue.

I just think it would be a little confusing for the average fan if a star above one teams emblem means something different than the same(or similar) star above another teams emblem. It's not that big of a deal though. If the Fire where to take a proactive* role like this, I would not complain.

*Proactive- A meaningless buzzword used by stupid people to sound smart.
