I think the star thing in MLS is due to a problem of A) too many higher ups thinking short term B) pressure from supporters and teams to have some recognition of their work C) the fact that DCU set a dangerous precident Hopefully cooler heads will prevail over time as MLS hangs in there for years to come and more traditions begin to take a long-term approach
Too true. Unfortunately, in order for any of these ideas to be implemented, DC must be willing to remove stars. Something I doubt they will want to do until they qualify to get one under the new system.
Who says we have to use the same recognition system DC does? Or anyone for that matter? If we did a star for every 5 or 10 championships, we'd know what the deal was.
Well if that's the case, then why don't we just give ourselves a star for no reason? MLS is in charge of ultimately deciding what goes on the uniform and I think it should be, well, uniform through the league.
I'm pretty sure it's up to the individual team and not the league. Otherwise, we'd have the star already.
I just think it would be a little confusing for the average fan if a star above one teams emblem means something different than the same(or similar) star above another teams emblem. It's not that big of a deal though. If the Fire where to take a proactive* role like this, I would not complain. *Proactive- A meaningless buzzword used by stupid people to sound smart.
