Well personally, I think this guy has a very poor view of the upcoming season. I would have to disagree with his assessment of every single team. I guess it's good that he's writing, but let's just say he wouldn't be in the top 20 DC United writers, and that includes the previous Washington Times writer. I'd rate this guy ahead of Trecker though.

This is the guy that will be doing the TV broadcasts next season for the Fire along with Jack Edwards, right?

    Yup..

Don't take anything he says seriously.. He is a moron..

You thought listening to Gordon Bradley ramble incoherantly was annoying? Listen to this dude.. He's not incoherent, he's just butt annoying...

I'm not here disrespecting DCU. Who knows what you'll have out there - maybe nothing, maybe a world beater. I just don't know.

What I DO know for sure is that this guy doesn't know either, as he has ABSO-FREAKIN-LUTELY no idea what he's talking about.

There are 15 year olds playing hooky today over on the MLS forum whose opinions are more insightful than this idiot.

He writes for the Fire. Enough said.

I have little respect for this guy either but he is not saying we are going to be good. He is just saying he wants to watch our games and I agree. We have some interesting personalities, some guys wanting to prove themselves, ... I am hoping for this damn snow to stop and the season to start.

I think you're all being a little harsh on the guy. He's trying to keep it light, not going for in-depth analysis. He's certainly wrong in several cases, but virtually every analyst is. He's not aiming high, and he's meeting that target :)

But I think it's almost undeniable that United will be fascinating to watch this year, whether we excel or suck. Two junior guys sporadically pegged for greatness in Convey and Q1. A hot-headed college player of the year in Esky. Two foreign vet with (at least) histories of clever and passionate play in Stoichkov and Etcheverry. An energetic national team player returning from a bad injury in Olsen. An energetic national team player returning from overseas in Stewart. A "titan among men" in Kovalenko (OK, best not to use Hudson quotes in justifying this). One of the league's best defenses with a couple of very interesting players in Reyes and Petke. That's 10 guys, leaving out a few other interesting players, that I would be extremely curious about no matter where they played. A lot of talent, a lot of questions about potential, a lot of passion. I think it's definitely the most compelling drama this year. I happen to think it's going to work out amazingly well, but win or lose, it will be fascinating.

    1. Most people are probably jealous that this guy gets to do PBP on an MLS team for TV.
    2. He's not a great writer but he doesn't sound arrogant in this piece, which makes me think he's probably a nice guy....so I'm not going to bash him this time. He's more like somebody's dad who makes corny jokes.

That's it exactly. The whole purpose of my post was to assuage my damaged psyche from the pain of my not getting his job.

    What is wrong with you?

I just scraped together 37 cents but couldn't find the Chinaglia bobble-heads on e-bay.

This column is HUMOR not analysis (although it can be said that it's not very funny either). That's the reason the assessments are what they are. Writing doesn't have to have a "winking smiley" at the end for it to be humor. OK? ;)

Does that mean I don't get my Chinaglia bobble-head?

Wouldn't mind this snow to stop so MY season could start.

Unless you're a NE fan though, I don't think the weather will have much bearing on our season. ;)

Get over yourself, I was not referring to any specific post. And if you did apply for his job and didn't get...well then don't come crying to me.

But even if you didn't apply for his job, don't you think it would be cool to do PBP or 'color' commentary for an MLS team? I think it would be cool. I can with confidence tell I sure I am jealous of Jack Edwards because of his job.

You know this thread had "sunk" to the point that it was nearly off the page until you revived it.

And he is still clearly clueless on the cowbells.
