45 minutes until we can collect the Supporters Shield . Life is good- life is very good.

Don't put the cart in front of the horse.

San Jose obviously has some weapons and we know the Galaxy is prone to defensive breakdowns. Looks good with SJ down to 10, but they're still in it.

    hmmmm

while I'm proud of MLS for finally making the move to a more European playoff style, the home-and-home, single elimination format is going to make it harder for the fire to accomplish the unprecedented domestic treble.

can't bitch, though, since I've been calling for home-and-home cup ties since before the Fire existed. :)

I know, which is why I'm watching on Yahoo and rooting for the Galaxy for the first time in my life. They look pretty good, though, on that big, beauty of a pitch. Sasha Victorine is back, how 'bout that?

    I love Chris Armas.

3-0 and SIMON ELLIOT scores !?!??!?! Crazy crazy night. Double for Armas, and the Gals score 3 without Ruiz getting one...wild! :)

    musings

I think it's safe to say now that Bob Bradley took a lot of credit over his years with the Fire that was really due Peter Wilt.

I got really pissed early in this season at the way the metros played us, particularly their cynical fouls against guys like Beasley and Razov, but there was so much knee-jerk bob-bashing going on, I didn't want to just jump on a bandwagon. But now, with home field secured, the SS all but in the bag, and an 11 point edge over Bradley's preferred team, I feel no qualms about saying that we need to take back some of the kudos we were lavishing on Bob and re-direct them toward the best GM in MLS history.

We lost the heart and soul of this team in Piotr, we lost a tremendous talent and sparkplug in Dema, a player of unlimited potential in Wolff, a former world footballer of the year, and our head coach, and we're about to win our first supporters shield. I'll never say Bradley wasn't a good coach, not as long as Wynalda's listening, anyway, but it's time to acknowledge that Bob benefitted from Peter Wilt's genius, and not the other way around.

Oh, and BTW, I think Dave Sarachan just locked up them Coach of the Year honors, too.

    5 games to glory,

    m

(and buck fob for letting the metros play the fire the EXACT same way they played us when he was our coach. what a complete and utter jackass.)

I think we got a lot luckier this year than the Metros, too, with our draft choices (shows why you should pick big solid talents like Jaqua and Ralph over shrimpy kid talents like Magee and Gave--though they are talented), injuries (**FINALLY!) and chemistry (losing Faria was probably a great thing for us). I think Bob's regime got a bit stale, too, but he did take us to two MLS cups and two USOCs, and you know that's not just down to squad talent. But there is no doubt we have the greatest GM in the league.

I just hope we don't throw it all away in the next 5 games, because we deserve better. After the way we pulled it out tonight, I think we can do it!

**Last season we were playing Vaudreiul, that's how bad things got, and this year we're missing one guy due to suspension and that's it! Knock on wood, but that's a huge difference.

[The LA-SJ game looks to be getting a bit nasty! I hope they kill each other off...;)]
